Well, although it may have been socially acceptable to do back then, the big problem is that the US had 2 different laws conflicting with each other. The Jim Crow segregation laws in a way "overwrote" the ability of blacks to get the same rights as whites. Realistically, what the Montgomery Bus Boycott incident did was display a stand against what was already an injustice to blacks. I'm not sure whether you can qualify Rosa Parks' stance as a freedom of expression more than a call for change in the actual policy in which until then much of the US had been running on. The facts are that the incident on the bus dealt with bigger issues than the first amendment. It was establishing a stand that would echo throughout the nation.
