Socially acceptable?

I seem to be the only girl in my year who settles down in front of a computer after college and plays on the computer. Although I'm never embarrassed at home about what I get up too in my free time, in a society such as mine, the acceptance of girls playing rpg's or fantasy games is scorned. Or it seems to be. Obviously I don't really know as I haven't come out with it. But don't you think it unfair that it seems more socially acceptable for guys to be on the computer rather than us ladies? To me it does.

It doesn't bother me usually, hardly ever in fact, but it is sometimes there at the back of my mind.

In an age that is starting to favour those with brains, and the stereotypical relation with "computer geeks" to intelligence, doesn't it seem logical that people will feel sympathetic to those of us who play?

Maybe I am just being pedantic, but I just don't see what is so wrong with playing the odd "geeky" fantasy game; hacking and slashing at orcs or dragons!

In the long run, my opinions mean nothing, it is a superficial and materialistic world; computing, but it is favoured by so many, not only for communicating to friends and family, but for education too.

A computer geek is something of a misnomer. We have lives, we have friends, we know what makes us happy. Why should it be someone else to tell us that its wrong or "not cool", it's our choice, our life, if we changed who we were, you wouldn't like the outcome!
