Well, hello there, if you are there that is....
This is my first entry and i wanted to bring forth something that has been bothering me since i played half life 2 for the first time. First of all i state that i like the game alot . okey, with that said i did stumble onto something quite puzzling, I'm actually surprized that this has not become a more known , hemm..... thing.as you all know (at least those lucky ones with pixle shader 2 cards) that half life 2 employes beautiful water reflections for hi-end cards yet, very dull water surfaces for cards like mine ( radeon 9000) . alright, fair enough, i thought at start ,although after playing far cry with beautiful water reflections i thought it was a little lazy on their side not to implement it on lower-end cards. But i let it slide because maybe its too much work to do that, BUT..... On the level Route Kanal , in the part where you run off the tracks while a train drives by and jump into the water you are blessed by beautiful water reflections!!!!! The real deal!!!!! But thats the only place i get that nice effect, the rest of the game has the same dull water surface ! ! ! Why???????????????? Why dont all the other levels reflect water , and why hasnt anyone noticed ? if you have a directx8.1 card please check this out . What it seems to me is that there is no problem whatsoever to get beautiful reflections in the game engin on my card , yet someone there decided to deprive us of this (maybe to forward the new cards or whatever buissinesy kind of reason). Whats wrong ? don't you want your game to look great on all cards when IT CAN AND SHOULD ? This bothers me because i cant see any justyfication for this . This game can look outstanding on my card yet the developer doesnt want it to , for some reason.
If you have a card similar to mine, check it out for yourself .... and please post any news if you do.....Who knows , maybe we will have enough voice and the developer will hear us and REPENT with a patch ( yeah, i know, i'm living in a fantasy world , but it's nice in here :))
Anyway , Thanx for your time
