We Need More Like This

Okay I'm definately not a writer but I felt a need to say something. I remember the old days back in the dark ages when a video game had 2 options, 1 player or 2? It was so much fun to get with a group of friends and see who could make it through all 8 stages of Super Mario Bros without dying. I like multiplayer, don't get me wrong but multiplayer ( in most cases ) just means a bunch of different ways to run around and shoot your friends ( or strangers ) in the face. Ya got death match, team deathmatch .. what have you.

Last night I was playing through RE 5 for about the 80th time and couldn't help but think wistfully about how awesome some other games could have been if someone had thought about making the multiplayer the same way. Not a seperate entity where the only point is killing everyone and the only thing that resembles the game you're actually playing is the background and characters. RE 5 did it in such a unique way that you could actually play the story line together. From beginning to end. It was amazing. Being able to play through the actual game with my friends or brother ( and not in horrible split screen mode ) was just so much fun. I could play alone if I was feelin greedy and wanted to keep all the goodies for myself or when I was feelin more generous and didn't mind sharing or wanted some help getting through a tough spot I could get some help from my game guru and amazing all around guy Vfr750. ( btw girls he's awesome and single )

They had it done in a way that could please anyone. If ya wanted only players of a certain calibre you could set it that way or if ya just felt like being nice and wanted to maybe help the less fortunate and maybe not so enabled with a game giftedness you could set it that way too. I thought it was perfect.

I know what most of you are already thinking, they have MMO's for that sort of thing but not all of us are willing to give up our lives to gain levels in WOW and some of us don't have the money for the memberships and some of us hate getting to a spot where we need to fight a certain monster for a certain sword or what not just to find that people have camped out in front of the cave for the sole purpose of not allowing anyone to play that quest. Besides the fact that there are games other than RPG's such as RE 5 that appealed to a different genre other than RPG players.

Back to my point. I thought wistfully about some other games that would have been utterly amazing IMO if they had the same type of multiplayer. The go through the story with another type of multiplayer. Silent Hill ( 1, 2, 3, even 4 and Origins not that horrible excuse for a game they called Homecoming ) Walking through the halls of the hospital waiting for it to twist into the other world with another person, tearing apart rooms and offices and opening desks for scraps of paper and clues would have been totally, mindblowingly fantastic if ya had a friend to do it with. GTA 4 had multiplayer but not to play the storyline. Working as a team on the bad guys would have been fun or racing your friend to see who gets to the girl that wants to go out on a date first would have been ultimately amusing. Most recently, Call of Juarez, which was in fact 2 brothers together in the old west, Why couldn't I have gotten another human to be my brother? To play the story together? It would have been much more fun than relying on the brain dead AI to have my back when all Hell broke loose in the streets.

So now that I have made a short story almost unbearably long I'm just hoping that maybe if the right people read this and maybe blog about it or forward this to the other right people then just maybe some dev somewhere might see this and maybe I'll see the day when more games have this type of multiplayer. To finish I just wanna say, that humans are by nature pack animals, we want to be with other humans, even if our connection is only an ethernet cord. Some of us would rather work through our games as a team, not just use them as shotgun fodder. RE 5 was perfection, we need more like this!

priorities

I did it, finally finished FF 12, Little Big Planet and have given up any hope of ever getting back to my PS2 games, lol. Which leaves me with Eternal Sonata, Uncharted Drakes Fortune and my last 3 trophies on RE 5. So many games I want but still want to get finished before going to another new one. I'm getting there.

Getting it Done

Ok I'm getting it done. I talked about it, I'm doing it. Silent Hill: Homecoming is finished. I am going back now to finish the end of FF12 in time for the release of The Last Remnant. I'll hold off on buying Little Big Planet ( as much as that hurts ) until I hear some talk about ACTUAL gameplay, which buys me a little more time as well.

Total list of games to finish ( including PS2 I still want to finish) not in any paticular order,...

Scarface PS2

Dragonquest 8 Journey of th Cursed King PS2

Grandia 3 PS2

FF Revenant Wings DS

Hotel Dusk: Room 213 DS

Pokemon Pearl DS

FF 4 DS

FF Tactics: War of the Lions PSP

Condemned 2 PS3

I give up!!

Ok, I give up! I'll never be able to go back to my old ways of not opening a new game until I've finished the old one. I'll continue to start one and then another and probably never finish even half of them but, I've decided it's not my fault. If the games were good enough to keep my attention then this wouldn't happen. FF7: Crisis Core for the PSP is a prime example. I bought it, opened it and then played it from start to finish with no desire to play anything else. The game was good, the story was immersive. I had to see what happened next. I place the blame of my huge collection of unfinished games squarely on the designers for makin crappy games!! Lol. I may be a little flighty, with a tendancy to never stick with the same thing for long but it can't be all my fault can it? So I now declare this! FF12 I will finish, Silent Hill ( the original PS version ) I will also finish before Homecoming comes out in 28 days. FF4 for the DS I will finish. Condemned2 is a might play if I have absolutely nothing else to do and Oblivion I'm gonna throw in the trash cause I'll never finish it. I know it, you know it, FINE!! There, are ya happy now? I have a plan and I'm stickin to it. New school year, new leaf, for me in many ways, including finishing up my games!! Wish me luck.

New console, new me

Okay, this is the way it's gonna be. I started with the PS2 and would not even take the plastic off a new game till I finished the one I was playing. Somehow that habit got broke and I ended up at the death of the PS2 with some 10 to 15 games I hadn't finished. I WILL NOT DO THIS AGAIN. It has been a source of teasing from my friends and family and I vow now that I have entered a new era with a brand new PS3 that I will go back to myold ways and not take the plastic off a game till my current one is finished.Which already puts me in a hard spot with a newly started game we all know which will take forever called Oblivion and a bunch of really cool looking games coming. Man my life sucks so much.

had enough

Okay, I've had enough. I have stood and taken the teasing from everyone for too long and I'll show them all. From this moment I vow to spend every possible waking moment finishing all my games that I haven't. I have a bunch of new ones I want and I refuse to start ANYTHING until I have completed every thing I have on the go including ff12 and dragon quest 8 which could take me until next year

Gotta Finish

Games I have to finish before I will open Final Fantasy 12.

Dragon Quest 8, Grandia 3, Scarface,

Games I will finish at some point just because,

Final Fantasy 7, 8, 9

Borrowed Games

Borrowed and played through a friends copy of Blood Rayne 2, so there goes another one I don't have to buy. This same friend also lent us and we finished Psi Ops, and Return to Castle Wolfenstein. I also borrowed but never completed Kingdom Hearts 1 from my friend Karen ( my little gamer buddy ) because I discovered I didn't like action rpg's. I also borrowed X-Files from my sister in law and played the entire game in a weekend, was too short and too easy. From my "intensely brilliant " ( as he puts it ) brother My husband has borrowed grand turismo, some war game? finished gun and tried total overdose but hated it and I am working on area 51 from him. I also borrowed resident evil 4 from Sean and am working my way through that too.

Goodbye, I'll Miss You

This is just a note to keep track of and pay homage to a few good games that have left my possesion in favor of a new one. Lest they not be forgotten. #1 Silent Hill 3- A very, very good game. I honestly loved it. But did not meet save forever status due to it's too short nature. #2 Sphynx and the Cursed Mummy- A good game, occupied me, but fell a little short in terms of things to do. The levels were large but basically barren. Without much replay value. # 3 Resident Evil Code Veronica- I loved this game as well, found it a little annoying in some respects as I found out too late about the fact that I would be unable to return to a certain spot after I had already left a stockpile of uncarryable items laying around because I knew where they were. And the leaving things in the box for chris thing. #4 Resident Evil Dead Aim- I liked the game but wasn't too keen on the location. I found the boat to be very small and got very annoyed at what seemed to be endless and mindless running from one end to the other then back again. #5 Sly Cooper 1. Never played the game personally, I bought it from my brothers girlfriend for $10 for my son who I thought may enjoy it. He didn't like it and found the controls a little too complicated for his liking. #6 The Getaway 2: Black Monday- husbands game but traded it anyway bacause there was a game I wanted much more. #7 Atelier Iris: Eternal Mana, silly, frustrating, generally unappealing game and #8 Star Ocean 3 I don't like action rpg's. Onimusha 1 I think it was 1 Just didn't like it. #10 Haunting Ground, neat game but found it too difficult to find out what you needed to learn to keep moving forward when the dude would not give you a chance to do anything. I traded some games this weekend, good-bye to Resident Evil Outbreak File #2, the game was insanely hard. Obscure, just never got into it, and Maximo 2 Maximo vs The Army Of Zin, I also sold Devil May Cry and The Suffering to my Brother.

Here is just a note to say thanx to the rentals I have enjoyed but do not wish to own. #1 Rygar- neat game but not my style got it accidentally from grabbing the wrong case while in a hurry. #2 Siren- good game, finished it, very short, that's it. #3 Fatal Frame 2- I have this to say about the game, weird, never finished it, too long to finish in a rental but left my mind twisted enough in the time I had it. #4 The Getaway- not me, the husband actually and rerented it till he finished it which took about a month in total lol oh well. #5 Destroy All Humans- cute idea, not my style, didn't enjoy it. I also rented Resident Evil 4 for the cube, was so awesome, would love to get the ps2 version. Pokemon XD also loved it but I am just a pokemon nut.

Completed Games

This is a list of completed games either still owned or had been borrowed from someone and the list of my husbands completed games of any sort. I finished Max Payne in my butt 2. I have also gladly completed Final Fantasy X, Final Fantasy X-2, Sphinx And The Cursed Mummy, God of War, Resident Evil Outbreak ( as David ) The Suffering, Devil May Cry 1, Kingdom Hearts 1 & 2, all the pokemons for gameboy from Silver to Emerald, Silent Hill 4 The Room, Silent Hill 3, Silent Hill 2 Restless Dreams, Monster House, Maximo 2, Dirge of Cerberus FF7 and Bully. The husband has completed, The Getaway 1, The Getaway: Black Monday, Psi Ops, Castle Wolfenstein, Blood Rayne 2, Socom U.S. Navy Seals 1, Smackdown Here Comes The Pain, Smackdown vs Raw, Smackdown vs Raw 2006, some war game, either Call Of Duty or Brothers In Arms, Grand Theft Auto San Andreas (multiple times ) ugh! Black, The Godfather, Fugitive Hunter and Call of Duty 3. The rest of the games we have completed are written in other entries.
