I bought the game yesterday, and have been playing it non-stop since then, and I can honestly say it's neither a buy or a rent. The game has so many issues it's not funny. It's trying to be a cross between a sandbox and an FPS, and the result is a game that is subpar in both departments. The ridiculously spaced out missions is only made more frustrating by roadblocks and random jeeps. Also, the enemies change from crazy trigger-happy fiends to mentally disabled in the blink of an eye. I once had to take out a group of people, and it took me 20 minutes to do so. 4 minutes to kill them, and 16 minutes to find the two stragglers staring at the backside of a building.
Also your buddies are pretty useless. On my way to help my friend at her marker, she calls me about halfway to tell me she's been overrun and then *click*, she was dead. Also, in the same fight those guys were staring at the building, I couldn't find my friend with the turban. I could hear him, but couldn't see him. Finally, after about 15 minutes, I discovered that he had somehow sunk into the ground and now only his head was exposed. Couldn't save him. Another time he had come to save me, and before I came to, he was on the ground. I healed him, and he subsequently collapsed two more times. On the third time, he made me inject him 3 times, causing me to unknowingly perform a mercy killing.
This game has way too many issues, and it's probably my biggest disappointment of 2008. No joke.

I feel the same way! The game is great exept the respawn checkpoints , while driving to a mission you have to cross at least two checkpoints, the missions are to far appart etc.
