I think Steam is definitely the best solution thusfar, but as I'm sure people have said before.. If Valve tanks, I've literally wasted hundreds, if not thousands of dollars on videogames that I can no longer play. I mean not being able to play a single player game when I'm disconnected from the internet? To be honest, that makes it feel like I'm paying to play the game, not paying to own it. At any rate it seems like thats the price PC gamers as a whole will have to pay. Suffice it to say the last game I bought from a store was Spore. Never again.
