Just got a new electric guitar...

I always wanted to learn to play a guitar;something about the dedication and reward associated with mastering the instrument really intrigued me. So, I went ahead and purchased a dean vendetta xmt. Not sure whether it was the right one, but I hope it'd be enough to serve its role as a practice guitar atleast for a couple of years.

Provided my interest still remains, I'll probably switch over to a Gibson Les Paul.

So I'll receive the guitar this Wednesday and I'll be teaching myelf how to play it mainly through instructional videos on youtube or from booklets. I'm thinking of putting out a blog entry every day highlighting my experience with my guitar and hopefully see an upward trend.

Here's to a new found hobby!

Final Fantasy 7!

Finally managed to get a copy of FF7 for a pretty reasonable price with everything pretty much intact and in good condition. Going to fire it up sometime this week. Apprehensive on whether this will work on windows 7 though.

One for the collection!

Backlogs mounting up...

I'm not sure what the problem at the root is to be honest. I find myself purchasing games that strike my interest at an alarmingly fast rate. I've always been a retail copy fanatic; I love purcahsing the physical editions of games simply because I love to collect them.

So I think that may be the cause; I'm a collector first and a gamer second. I started of as a gamer, but somewhere down the line the excitement of owning different games and expanding a collection somehow outgrew the passion for playing them and getting immersed in them.

Playing E.Y.E really is an experience that you shouldn't miss out on...

I was on the fence on getting this game to be honest; didn't know much about the game, the studio, the plot...I rememeber the first time I saw the trailer to E.Y.E here at gamespot and was very confused. Confused enough to be intrigued, if that makes sense. So I started following the game, watched a few gameplay videos, read through the comments on the steam forums. That was when I came to know that this was an indie game made by a group of only 10 people!

10 people! 10 FREAKING PEOPLE! That is just insane...I mean if you look at the content the game has to offer in terms of plot, dialogue, a skill based system, RPG elements, an entirely reconstructed world, character animations...and so much more. The mere fact that this ambitious game was made by a small group of talented individuals really speaks volumes about where the gaming scene is headed; especially the PC. That people are willing to take the risk to release a game they were passionate about, both to create as well as play, and the fact that the recpetion has been good so far, is a good omen.

So the day before I took the plunge and bought the game was when Kevin published his review. To those who haven't read that yet, it's an extremely well written piece and details all the highs and the lows. He nailed it.

So anyways, I've been playing the game for a day now...very slowly though, since I'm taking my time to explore everything and I'm reading up on the lore. It's a very intriguing read. Text is of just the right amount and doesn't tend to get verbose. Though I have to say, it does take quite a few references from source materials that we are very familiar with. Which come to think of it is a very good thing. The developers are paying a homage to the greats.

Do I recommend this game? Well in all honesty it's a YES...but then if you think about it, there are different types of gamers and this may not be up everyone's alley;but I suggest you give the demo a shot and see how comfortable you are with the concept and execution.

If anyone ever reads this, let me know what your thoughts are about the game. Peace out.
