i have an acer aspire desktop

it has an amd 6000, 8800gt, 3gb ddr2 memory, 500gb hd, vista.

i was looking to get rid of it, so i put it up on craigslist for 500, but no one was interested.

what do you think i should be asking for?

i went to best buy looking for a new graphics card. i was looking around and i saw the BFG 8800gt for 280$, then i saw the new BFG 9600gt, which i thought wasnt out yet. there was no price on it, so i took it up to the counter. it was 230$!?

for 50$ more i can get the 8800gt

is 50$ more worth the better performence???

and also, the 9600gt price could have been a mistake, because the 8600 was also 230$

i just bought a new computer, and the on-board video sucks. i have about 300-350$ to blow on a new video card.

i am new to pc gaming, and i am not sure what to get.

im into all the new pc games, like oblivion, cod 4, orange box, crysis.

please help.

well i also bought oblivion GOTY edition, but when i play it on normal setting, it seems a little bit pixilated and slow, and if i put it on a higher setting, its less pixalated and more slow. so i have been playing it on a low setting.

im new to pc gaming, and i am just asking, is this just an issue with how crappy my video card is, or is there a problem with my computer??

if i get an 8800 gt, will this problem go away?
