@Alucard_Prime: Also the "requalify" feature doesn't make the game any easier. I hit level 50s who are just shitbags about their stats and requalify through the lower ranks, then they stroke themselves on a double ultra + taunt supreme victory.

If we're comparing these games, KI probably facilitates salt and bm the most.

And I love it so, so much.

@Alucard_Prime: The major obstacle in the way of KI is that it takes a lot of practice before you even feel like you can play the game. New players suck at MKX and SF, but they don't have to know they suck until they reach a rank that pits them against people who are clearly better than they are. The complexities of MKX and SF don't become necessary until you're playing people good enough to make them necessary. KI's complexities are necessary day 1.

I've invited my girlfriend (non-gamer) to play all three with me. She thought MKX was great. She was okay with SF. After two minutes of KI she said "looks cool, but **** this."

This anecdote explains the sizes of the fanbases to some degree. MKX easily has the largest fan base/player base (it's a mainstream game AND a fighter--tons of people play it without even knowing what EVO is). SFV is probably the biggest in the FGC, but small compared to mainstream games. KI occupies a niche with a hyper-fanatic fan base.

@wolverine4262: I don't understand what you mean when you say KI is "mindless." It's incredibly taxing, mentally. But, I do agree with you when you imply that multiple fighters can be successful. Personally, I'm thinking MKX, SFV and KI are going to be the big three pretty soon. All of them are phenomenal, and each is extremely unique when compared with the other two.

Also, funnily enough, all three are only available on two of the three core platforms, and none of them is available on the same two as any other. So, owners of each platform get two of the big three to play.

MKX: PS4 and XB1 (**** you, WB)

SFV: PS4 and PC

KI: PC and XB1

But seriously about KI. Don't underestimate it. Watch EVO 2015 and try not to shit your pants. That game is mindblowingly intense.
