it happened to my ps3 aswell, same problem as your one. I purchased a new one, at the time I felt really crap, i got extended warrnty on this one, hope nothing happens

I've played and completed all three MGS titles and love the whole series and can't wait for GOTP.

But yeah some like it, some don't, not worth arguing over gaming tastes.
