Football blog : Nando to Chelsea ?

With Liverpool demanding £50 million for Fernando Torres from Chelsea with just one day left before the window shuts, then this surely pin points that they have already found a replacement for the striker. I would personally sell him now especially as Liverpool have already got a someone waiting in the wings to step into his boots and with the imminent arrival of Suarez. Also it will be a good time for the likes of Ngog and Pacheco to step up to the mark and show what they are really made of, any other younger players of course as well. I would be sad to see him leave yet we could not argue that it hasn't being coming for a while now as speculation was rife every time the summer came around for the past few years and with Liverpool not having a good past two seasons. His body language kind of gave it away too though even with him looking back to his old self under Kenny Dalglish. However I'm sure there will be positives and negatives of his departure.

Positives

The positives of Torres leaving you would of thought might be in short supply as how could anyone come in and replicate his goal scoring form over the past few seasons. However if he does leave then it means will can bring in someone which will actually look like he wants to play for the club as well as maybe having a few millions left over to splash on some much needed cover. Another positive which I have already mentioned would be the blooding of the younger players at Liverpool. They will get their chance and will hopefully show what they can do then maybe becoming first team regulars, rising stars of the future maybe. Much needed. Since the arrival of Gerrard along with a few others Liverpool haven't really brought any promising youngsters through apart from Kelly (who looks like a decent player) and maybe Spearing who is getting a few games now, yet this might be just be because of the new squad rules put in place for this season, however with some talented youth waiting in the wings it might lead to them becoming the future stars and faces of Liverpool football club. If not then we might be able to make a little profit on a few of these names. We do have some decent players waiting for their chance too. I just hope they get the chance this season unlike past seasons. Also losing his sulky attitude which we have seen to many times on this pitch this season isn't going to be a bad thing at all.

Negatives

Yet there is always going to be negatives of losing a player like Torres of course, like losing his threat and amount of goals that he is capable of scoring. He is one of our talisman too along with Gerrard of course and match winners aren't easy to come by in football which we will be losing if he does go. Also all the weight and pressure might be landed back on Gerrard which isn't good yet hopefully Suarez and a replacement might help him out. Also we are meant to play Chelsea this week away so if he scores the winning goal against us then that is obviously not a good thing but I hope Gerrard puts a big tackle into him (if he does go). But of course the big one is just loosing someone that can score so many goals and terrify so many defences especially when Torres is on form, something that can't be replaced except by a few in the footballing world i.e. Messi.

Looking at it though the positives seem to out weigh the negatives yet Torres will be a big lose to Liverpool but no one is bigger then the club. If this move is something about money though I hope Liverpool don't bow down to Torres by giving him what he wants i.e. Man united with Rooney. In the long run if Torres wants to go let him, I don't want him at my club if he doesn't want to be there.
