I have no idea how people could possibly watch this for enjoyment.
It's worthy of mockery.
If fans continue to accept bad writing, it's all we'll be left with. This is objectively bad, and the production is worse. To accept this is simply to ensure that this becomes an industry standard.
To some extent it already has.
I can only hope that Amazon fire the writing team, re-hire production and casting staff, and start over with a story which all people can engage with.
Wow. You people are so disconnected from the objective reality of our world. Get out there and talk to people who don't have a woke suppository shoved up their behind.
The "Lesson" that SHOULD have been learned from this is:
Don't mess with Canon.
It's there because it maintains the integrity of the universe. If you screw with it, you create dissonance with the audience, which then stops their enjoyment of the created world. If you aren't experiencing dissonance, you're either new to the narrative universe, or objectively stupid.
You're literally advocating KILLING worlds. And that's simply a weird hill to die on... and yes, you have died - as an organization promoting journalism in gaming and fandoms.
Now you're a weird activist organization promoting insane views that are actively losing you revenue and fans.
Also: people of colour (they used to be called foreigners for a reason) DID exist in Europe, but there was no cosmopolitanism similar to today. Mostly they were ambassadorial in nature, or from trading exclaves, and not widely integrated as they are today.
They were an extreme rarity and were - just as in rural China or Africa today - most often a target of extreme fear and hate.
This led to extreme auto-segregation of ethnic groups... which is why POC should not be portrayed in historical narrative as something that is commonly seen, or - at least - unquestioned.
The author of this article, in their consistent attempts to subvert the reality of our world, is simply doing a disservice to your platform. I suggest that both he, and your editing team get a grip - and if you can't, find another occupation. This one isn't working out so well.
Just an idea, but maybe fans of the franchise aren't really wanting a remake of a game they enjoyed 15 years ago.
Maybe we want a continuation of that franchise, with an entirely new and expansive narrative, more worlds to explore, greater numbers of force powers, character interactions, choices, and more ways to change our impact on the galaxy.
While remaking a game is sure "nice", it's something I've seen before with prettier lights but no real meat.
I'm wanting a dev-team that is willing to kill a whale, and share that feast with everyone.
I hope that this will mean that less pressure is added to developers to cut features, limit experiences, and reduce testing periods for these highly complicated products.
I'd much rather they put the price of these AAA games up to $100 or $150 in order to create an exceptional product that all gamers will buy and remember forever, rather than a mediocre product which a fraction will buy and forget tomorrow.
It's been my worry for a while that the developers are making games simply to keep up with shareholder expectations of consistent profits, rather than making games that serve both the consumer's desires AND the corporate bottom line.
This is a great decision from Ubisoft! Hopefully the added funds encourage a renewed drive for excellence in this space.
