@DrYuya: please view the comment by @JustPlainLucas. We are all aware of the other possibilities to play SNES games. This is a nostalgia purchase.

Great article Brendan! I think developers are punishing consumers with some of the practices you talked about in your article like online passes and required game registration. Though I can see the impact used games can have on new game sales, it is a legal and cheap way to play great games in a tough global economy right now. With the rising prices of consoles, accessories, and all but necessary online costs to play games(XBL anyone?) on consoles, have the game makers thought that these practices which restrict gamer's purchases may be the straw that break many gamer's backs? I can't speak for everyone, but if games do become only new and all of this stuff with online passes become industry standard, I'll just ditch consoles altogether and learn how to build a gaming rig.
