If you are looking for Quake Style Deathmatch try Deathmatch Classic (Half-Life mod based off the Quake 1 Engine) still quite popular and is older than CS

Hell yes CS:S is full of whining 12 year olds,the amount of cheaters on there is more than Halo 2 and the admins...don't even get me started.where as DoD has friendly players (apart from the odd retarded american,no offence LA) balanced weapons and a great community.
