There is alot of talk about HDR support and 4k upscaling (since true 4k gaming is really not feasible with this hardware) with the PS4 Pro. Since I have no plans on ditching my 60" 1080p TV any time soon, I want to hear about better frame rates and effects at 1080p resolutions. 4k upscaling and HDR have no benefit to me so if the frame rates and effects/details are going to be locked to the standard PS4 versions of games at 1080p, than I won't be buying a Pro. I think that this is going to a problem for developers; trying to decide what resolutions, frame rates, and effects to put into what versions of the games. Version 1 will always be the base version what runs on the original PS4. Then there can be a version that focuses on 4k that will probably match the frame rate of the original with some better effects. The middle ground of 1080p on a Pro has the potential to have a higher refresh rate and/or effects than both of the other versions due to the Pro having more power than a base PS4 and not having to waste extra GPU power on 4k. That would be the sweet spot that would get me to buy a Pro. I'm just afraid with Sony pushing 4k to move new TV purchases that the magic of putting all of the GPU power to use on 1080p might get lost in the shuffle. We shall see.

@elheber: As someone who is only a few years younger than Tony, I understand it's more anger from trying to do something that you used to be able to do, only it takes a lot more effort and you end up beat to hell trying to do it. His throwing his helmet was at the end of a body-destroying, painful run of crashes and frustration. I would have done it to.

zzzzzzzzz....

Wake me up when they get back to a real person with a simple gun, not this wall running, jet packed, psy powered junk CoD has become. CoD needs to go the way of Guitar Hero and Rock Band and have Activision handed its a$$ for putting out another yearly installment of shovelware. If people keep handing over a billion dollars a year in sales, there is no incentive to invest in new IPs or even in improving CoD itself.

When consoles were built on custom architectures with a cost subsidized buy the manufacturer, consoles started off as cutting edge which allowed them to be viable for a long period of time. Now that Sony/MS are using off-the-shelf PC solutions in order to make a profit on hardware starting at day one, we are getting mediocre/mid-grade performance at release and the systems are not aging as gracefully. On top of this is Sony's push for 4k in order to sell new TVs as well as the hype machine of VR being jammed down our throats. Together, these realities are pushing them to do a hardware refresh so quickly.

If the new normal is going to be a new console refresh every 3 years, I'm going back to PC. $400-500 every 3 years will keep a decent gaming PC running at a higher resolution/framerate/bells-n-whistles than any current console will. And it can be used for more than gaming. I will hold on to my "old skool" PS4/XB1 for the occasional exclusive. I'm not dumping another dollar into consoles unless they meet or exceed the performance I can get from a PC with the same amount of money spent in upgrades every few years.

I remember playing this when it was released. It felt like you were playing something that had never been done before. Back in those days, moving from one generation of hardware to another allowed developers to create genres and experiences that were new and revolutionary. Now, that's not so much the case. I love being a gamer now, but I miss those days where there were new "h*ly sh1t" moments all of the time.

I don't care how awesome it is. I'm not going to play games for any length of time with a thing strapped to my head just to play it. I know it sounds silly to a lot of you guys but I don't want "total immersion." I like having that clear separation between where my TV ends and the rest of the room begins. Sitting 10ft from a 65" TV is enough field of view for me. I know most of you will give me heck about this opinion but I can tell you that there are a decent amount of people who really don't want to enter a "virtual world." Out of about 10 regular gamers I know personally, no one is jazzed about VR. I know that some of the ones with children don't want to invest in VR for the fact that nobody with kids will be able to use VR for any amount of time. I can see the headlines now: "Coming up at 11...local area child falls down flight of stairs. Father does not notice for several hours while playing VR games."

I am excited for Uncharted 4's release but not for the same reason as a lot of people. I want Uncharted 4 to get out of the way so that Naughty Dog can start working on Last of Us 2 in earnest. The Uncharted series is good and I enjoy playing the games but Last of Us crushed it when it comes to atmosphere, emotion, and story. There is so much more to that universe that needs to be revealed in sequels. When I heard that the next game ND was working on was another Uncharted, I was so disappointed that that took precedence over a Last of Us sequel. Will I buy Uncharted 4? Sure. Am I more excited about the unannounced Last of Us sequel than a game I can buy in a few weeks? Yup.
