How do i set the resolution i want for my xbox?

ok so i just got an lcd moniter and im trying to get sound on it does anyone know what kind of adaptor/converter i can plug into the optical port then just polug regular speakers into???????

Does anyone know a pretty cheap set of optical speakers i could get to use for my 360 because i have it hooked up to this new moniter i got and i have no sound thanks

im buying an lcd computer moniter if it as built in speakers would i still need to buy optical speakers for sound on my 360?
