Wii U was by far Nintendo's worst console. It was hugely under powered from the moment it was revealed at E3 2011, and more outdated still by the time it released in Nov 2012.
Using PowerPC CPU technology from the late 1990s and GPU architecture from 2008 (not to mention being close to the lowest end GPU in AMD's RV7xx / Radeon 4000 series) did not help matters at all. The GamePad was an expensive joke which barely even got used in Nintendo's own first party games.
It's more than time to have moved on. Switch seems like a step in the right direction. Far from ideal, but great compared to Wii U.
If Switch is like the original Game Boy, I can't wait to see the future Switch equivalents of Game Boy Color and Game Boy Advance in the coming years. Choosing Nvidia was the smartest move Nintendo could've made.
Looks like I won't be supporting Gwent or Cyberpunk 2077 then.
It should not take so much time, manpower or money to work on a PS4 Pro patch for The Witcher III as to take away from their next major release that's years away. I'm pretty damn disappointed CDPR is not going to support PS4 Pro. Will be getting the new console, but Witcher III is the last game I plan to buy from that company.
Maybe within the next 18 months, time for Microsoft to offer an Xbox console that core gamers really WANT to own, that also works with Oculus Rift CV1 and the inevitable CV2.
Xbox One was a pretty bad blunder by Microsoft, although not as disastrous as Wii U.
