Playstation phone using touchpads instead of thumbsticks?

Now that the Playstation phone is official(named the Zeus Z1), we can talk about what it looks like. From the videos we can see that it's gonna have two upper triggers (L-trigger and R-trigger), the famous playstation D-Pad, the playstation buttons (X-[]-/-O), but most importantly, two thumbstick, the thing that everyone asked for from the playstation portable (PSP). But there is a catch. From what we've seen, it doesn't seem to stand out at all.

So, what are those thumbsticks? Well, from the looks of it, it seems like a touchpad instead. A touchpad with, not buttons, but with small centered ruggy "positionners" for your thumbs. Or is it those small round metal centers that are the touch pads? And are used to be a kind of joystick without the physical parts?

Well, I'm wondering about the usability of those. Simple the thumbsticks are the most used parts in recent games, we can only hope that it's gonna be responsive like we're used to with playstation technology. Because we all know how responsive are touch screens for gaming... (I mean, for "real" gaming). Anyway, waiting for more informations.

It's gonna be announced by december 9, official (check the link);

PSN IDs should update WITHOUT OUR INTERVENTION!

Sony finally let us have our PSN portable ID so we can put it inside our signature on forums for exemple. That's a really great move, yeah, but we NEED to go over the playstation.com website, on the portable ID section, and click "refresh" ourselves each day if we want our PSN ID to be like it should!!! It doesn't refresh by itself!! My god, could sony simply make them auto-refresh once a day, or AT LEAST once a week???

My god, it's not THAT hard!!!!

The Playstation Video Store in Canada!

A long time ago Sony launched in the US: The PlayStationNetworkVideo Store. Letting people rent or download movies directly from their Playstation 3 system. Now, they are making this great service in Europe, but nothing is scheduled for Canada.

If you read the US Playstation Blog (http://blog.us.playstation.com) from times to times, you surely saw the numerous posts saying things like \"CANADA!?!?!\", and not only one time, but several times on the page. A lot of Canadians are frustrated that everybody is going to have it or already have it, while we're not even listed in a \"to come\" section.

This Petition is for us, Canadian Playstation 3 owners that wants to have a Video Store like everyone else.

SIGN THE PETITION HERE PLEASE, EVEN IF NOT FROM CANADA!

The new Xbox 360 Dashboard game installs is worth it?

Well, after seeing the Eurogamers review of the installs, it seem to depend on the game. So are a LOT helped and some aren't helped at all. I think Microsoft should make a list of wich games benefit from it, since games like Halo 3 are significantly slower with an installation, while games like the orange box are lighting speed with an install..

http://www.eurogamer.net/article.php?article_id=290745&page=1

ps: It's still (alive) fun to note that M$ said for years that the ps3 was lame of letting people install games (in general on the ps3, you choose if you want to install the game, mandatory installs are pretty rare) and that they're not like this... well, it seems they oriented their update on that :S

Sony thinks of updating the trophy system

The latest issue ofOPMsays thatSCEAis considering some sort of reward system for getting trophies:

"We've heard that SCEA is mulling over some sort of Trophy reward system. We doubt it'll be cash (or the equivalent), but we suspect it might be exclusive access to early betas and the like. "(From OPM magasine)

Well...

Levels could give us VIP access to normally inaccessible stuff. For exemple, it could give us an hidden car in motorstorm, or a new costume in uncharted...

I think that they could let us use those levels to buy PSN stuff. For an exemple, 10 levels could be used to buy a playstation one game, or any other downloadable game that cost around the same, or even rent movies on their movie servive, etc. 2 levels could mean 1$ on the PSN to spend =D.

Without thinking about money, they could give Beta keys to people who are level X or more only.

They could give promotionnal stuff for each 5 levels, starting at level X. Let's say level X is 30, then at level 30, 35, 40, etc, you would get a promotionnal something, like a t-shirt that you could choose in a list (promoting games like uncharted, motorstorm, god of war, naruto ninja storm, etc).

But THIS is the easiest answer: They could give freebies inside HOME for each level (something for acheiving level 2, 3, etc). This would promote HOME, sony, the games of sony, and everything linked to home, including the PSN.

What I'd want?;
I'd like a VIP access to level X and more in Home and on the PSN. For exemple, those VIPS could have access to locked places in Home (for an exemple, I'd like if those VIPS could talk with the devs at the launch of a new game, like when the movie stars are interviewed, but this time, by the fans. A rude behavior in those situation would ban the user from the VIP rooms in HOME, but not for the PSN version of the VIP club). And for the PSN, the VIPs would have a diffferent color in the background of the PS store (gold, with the letters VIP written somewhere) and would get more stuff, like exclusive wallpapers, behind the scene videos, maybe beta keys, themes, and maybe a reduction of 10% one selected days in the year, I don't know).

Maybe we could replace "level X" with "X level(s) gained in the last month" so we would have to defend our VIP title with a flow of trophies. 10 trophies per month would be good, or er two months. This way sony would make us buy those PSN games that have trophies, lol.

Is the PS3 regaining strengh?

I was shocked when Squeenix annonce that FF13 will pop on the X360 as well, and I had dark toughts about the end of the ps3. But now that the water calmed down, I realised that Eternal Sonata is popping on the PS3 in october, that valkyria chronicles looks good, that Little Big Planet is starting to get my attention, that GT5 will pop early 2k9 with resident evil 5 (the only one that is also on the x360 but in japan), and that finally, the super JRPG for the x360, infinite undiscovery, was a let down. The only big thing the x360 got that sony should have had for it's own console was tales of vesperia, and I guess it'll come too in the not so distant future.

Still, I'm pretty sure the x360 will sell more than the ps3 will do around christmas, but I now have faith! lol.

And anyway, It's not like I'll buy all those games, my university just costed me 2k$... I now have 1.6k$ in my bank account, and my next session will eat that anyway... sob. But I'll have gifts from my friends, lol. Maybe 2-3 games, that would be cool! :D (If they buy the good ones, lol)

PS3 gamercard and acheivements

I really hope the rumor is the real deal, about the new gamercards for the playstation network, and the acheivements. The only thing sI want from the x360 right now is:

1st: The JRPGs, I want them on the ps3!!! (that's not happening before FF13)

2nd: The acheivements (now it may pop, :D)

3rd: The gamercard (may pop soon too. I always wanted this for my sig).

Anyway, the ps3 is doing okay right now, let's hope that FF13 pop soon enough to save it! :D I don't want to have to buy another console.

MGS4 and the ps3's sales

MGS4 boosted the sales of the ps3 in japan, and I'm wondering if this will help other companies understand that WE LIVE. I mean, I can't understand why japanese companies like mistwalker (okay, they were paid 40M$ by M$), tri-crescendo (the makers of eternal sonata) and square-enix can do x360 exclusives when all of japan is rooting for nintendo and sony. Also, all the JRPG fans bought a ps3, so they'd do way more money making games for the ps3...

Just my 2 cents on that.

Eternal Sonata got me going!

I must say that I'm really impressed with the game reviews. I mean, gamespot gave the game a really big push foward and now I really want eternal sonata (not that I didn't wanted it before, but I needed a kind of confirmation my thinking was good). Still, I don't have an xbox360 so I suppose I'll wait for the ps3 version (coming in january in japan, and surely around feb. for US), sadly.
