Solid State

ok, so I got my DVD that I ordered fromAmazon and I'm really happy with the movie. I bought Ghost in the Shell: Solid State Society and I have to say that it was AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I recommend this Anime film to everyone that watches anime, I think that it's the best work that they have done so far (and I'm not just saying that because I'm a Ghost in the Shell fan :P ) I'm going to do a little summary about that film so that you can s what I'm talking about.

This film takes place in the year 2034, 2 years after 2nd GIG. A lot of things have occurred since the end of 2nd GIG, the Major (Motoko Kusanagi) left Section 9 sometime after the end of 2nd GIG and has been doing investigations of her own ever since depending on what her gut told her. (That line is straight from the movie.) While doing investigations on the net she came across some really interesting info, she found info on the Solid State. She found that a lot kids had disappeared. She became really intrigued with what she had discovered and decided that investigating the kidnappings was going to be her next assignment.

Meanwhile, section 9 had undergone a lot of change. Chief Aramaki and Batou have really aged, the Chief now has to walk around with a cane. Batou seams different, he is more quiet that what he used to be and he seams kind sad ever since the Major left Section 9. Togusa has also gone under some serious change; he is now the field operations leader (the Majors' old job) and now has a fully cybernetic body to better help Section 9. Saito has also gone full cyborg, before he only had his cyber brain and his left eye, which is why at the begging he didn't come out like everyone else did. Other that these guy everyone looks pretty much the same that they always did with the same attitudes and all that stuff.

Section 9 as a whole has also changes a lot, there is now over 20 agents on the force (but you never really see all of them) and Section 9 is much bigger than when the Major was with them. Aramaki has spend a lot of time making Section 9 into a much bigger organization, his dream is that one day they can take on 3 different investigations (or more) at the same time while only using up 80% of their resources. He thinks that this way section 9 will be much more successful.

Ok, that is enough of the background story. The film starts with a Colonel trying to commit suicide and he wasn't the only one. A lot of people have committed suicides all over Japan and that has caught the attention of Section 9. They get to the scene and the guy has a hostage but instead of killing the hostage he kills himself and says something like "you think you can make a fool out of me Puppeteer?!?!?!?!" and then he shoots himself. The major was also there when this happens but she doesn't do anything, she just goes into the shadows. Section 9 thinks that this Puppeteer hacks the brains of people and makes them commit suicide. Section 9 also find kids that where being held in a room, apparently they where all kidnapped. When they go back to HQ they try to find what's wrong with the kids and it shoes that they all don't know who their parents are and have no memory of they really are. Their memory had been over written with false memories and their ID was changed so that they could think that they where some else.

The one thing that all the kids had in common was that they where all full cyborgs. When Section 9 tried to compare the names that the kids said they where and the records they found that all the names belonged to old people. Then they searched the birth record and found that there where 20,000 missing kids!!! But how could all those kids be missing and no one not notice. When they tried to pull a list of all of them a virus was triggered and Section 9 had to shut down all their power or else they where going to be taken over by the virus. I'm not going to say anymore than this because I know that some of you might watch this film (I know that hush404 will) and I don't want to ruin the film for anyone that is going to watch it.

I really liked the film, I think that this is the best work that they have done. And from the information that was released on Anime Expo 2006, this will not be the last thing that will be released for the Ghost in the Shell; there hasn't been a release date or any other info released for the next installment of the series. I just hope that it doesn't take to long for the next thing to be released.

On other things, today is the 4th of July and it's Independence Day here on the US. I'm not really going to do anything special other than a little barbecue with the family and friends. I'm not really into fireworks. I think that they are a waste of money, I wish everyone a happy 4th. Thanks for reading.
