thanks for the replies. I was thinking of stumping up $200 for a new arcade model rather than paying $100 to get my existing pro fixed and wanted to know if I can switch the HDD over. Looks like I can.

Is it possible to add the 20gb HDD from an existing X360 Pro to a brand new X360 arcade without any issues? I.e. will it be 100% compatible? Any known issues? Anyone already done this? Let me know what you guys know...

yup. the switch on the cables is set to HDTV, not regular TV. The settings in the dashboard have also been changed accordingly.

the widescreen 'black bars' are not the issue. I understand that HD from 720 upwards is only in widescreen. the issue is an overall degredation of the picture quality which is entirely unapparent in 480p.  Obviously this should not be the case as 720p and 1080i should look significantly sharper than 480p.

I agree, it doesn't seem right at all.  It's an Insignia NS27HTV.

anyone have any ideas as to why my 360 display looks significantly sharper/better in 480p than in 720p/1080i?

My tv's native resolution is 1080i and that just confuses me even further.

with regard to them not being compatible online, it's just what I've read elsewhere - I don't know it for a fact. The compatability issue is the only reason the possible gameplay differences occurred to me.

are there any?

I have heard that the two games are not compatible with each other online, and so this has led me to wonder whether or not there are any differences are far as gameplay is concerned?

I ask because I've played the British version and wasn't impressed, and wanted to know if anything had been tweaked or modified during the 4 month wait between the two versions.

has anyone been able to pick this up yet? It was unavailable at both best buy and EB this morning in Madison, and I thought the release date was today.
