First of all what I laughed because what you said wasn't a big deal.
Should it ever be man its a game forum not a White House debate.
Okay so Mario has 3 AAA games thats all well and good?
What the hell more do you want? Unless your favorite franchise is GTA, Zelda, or another top tier franchise its not getting AAA's and AA's like Mario games.
Back in the day Mario was like the first thing you thought of when you thought about gaming. Now Mario hasn't be substantial in years.
Yeah um when you think about gaming Mario is still the first name to come to mind. Even Peter Moore and every other person on this planet knows that. He's still the biggest icon in gaming. Mario hasn't been substantial in years? You're hallucinating New Super Mario Brothers sold 420,000 its first day and is destroying sales charts even now. It hit a million copies sold in two weeks. You name me one game with Mario in its title that has come out recently that hasn't sold a million copies. You click ths link and you tell me if it isn't substantial.
Those games are AAA but they haven't changed the industry like they used to be.
Did God of War, Final Fantasy, Ninja Gaiden, Devil May Cry or any of the best selling games ever change the industry? No, all they did was do what good games do, and that is score well and become well recieved. Same as Mario is still doing now.
Mario had good games last gen but nobody is signing his praises like they used to.
Name me the last game featuring Mario in its title not to sell well? He's still selling amazinly well so people obviously are still praising him. Super Mario Galaxy is hyped as the next big platformer. Just because you don't doesn't mean others aren't.
Paper Mario were good games and all but correct me if I'm wrong but it didn't sell well.
Please stop making a fool of yourself both sold over a million copies.
New Super Mario Brothers was good but it was the same as the SNES games. So nearly Mario's games haven't met as much as the past.
This coming from a guys who's blog says "I didn't buy a DS because of the gimmick" Please go play the game before you say some more stupid things seriously. If it scores AAA and it sells in the multimillions and smashes sales records then yes it still means as much as the past.
Your arguments are becoming more stale then a Megaman game. Go brush up your getting rusty.
Blackbond
you post would make sense if i was talking about sales. Pretty much everything you've said has revolved around how successful a game is sales wise. the only thing i was wrong about when it comes to sales was that i didnt know that paper mario has sold over a million, which is of little consequence.Listen, my post had no connection with sales. everything i said, had to do with marios influence on the gaming industry. i listed reasons why mario wasnt as influential as he has been in the past, and you brushed it off as meaning it doesnt matter because he still sells well. That was never my arguement to begin with. if sales is an indication of greatness in the game industry, thn fifty cent bullet proof and pokemon should be crowned kings.
In the past, mario did have the sales, but he also had the undisputable quality in every incarnation of his titles to back it up.
In alot of ways, mario is a victim of his own success. pretty much everything you've used as a rebuttal had to do with sale success. i was neevr talking sales success. I already explained how mario was out done by many games this gen. He is NOT what he once was and no, he is no longer the face of gaming.
Galaxy has a chance to resurrect this.
