I first got Xbox Live after Halo 2 came out, in January of 2005. With it, I got the Xbox Wireless Networking Adapter. Everything was fine. When I got my 360, I just used the old Xbox adapter, and it worked with no problems with my 360. Just last week, I had a sudden power surge. The power went out and came back within a few seconds. Since then, I've had problems with Xbox Live.

At first, whenever the adapter was plugged in, the power light flashed between orange and green, and I couldn't connect. I tried a different AC adapter (from my PSP), and I could connect, but everything was a lot slower, and I couldn't download anything. I went out and bought the Xbox 360 wireless network adapter (the little white one), thinking that a new adapter would solve the problem. Now, with the original AC adapter, I can go online and play online games, but when I go to download something, the page either takes a few minutes to load, or tells me that my box couldn't retrieve the information from Xbox Live at this time.

Here's my question: would the new adapter give me a better connection? Should I return it and save my money, or open it and try it out? Any help is appreciated.

I'm planning on buying a GeForce 8600GTS from Newegg. I've never really taken apart a PC before, and I don't want to screw anything up. Do you think I should find a tutorial and carefully go step-by-step, or bite the bullet and pay someone to do it? Is it relatively easy to install a card? I've got a pretty good idea of what to do, but I'm worried I might do something wrong. Suggestions?

No, don't get that card. It's really bad. If you're going to get an 8-series card, you should get the 8800GTS. If you want to spend that much, but still want DX10 you could get away with the 8600GTS, but I wouldn't get any card lower than that. You could get a DX9 card and get the 7900GS or x1950Pro which would perform really well. Fignewton50

Thank you! I think I'm going to get the 8600GTS.

I was looking at Newegg, and found this one. Would it work with my system? The reviews seem positive, and all I want to do is run my games, not make them look pretty.

I recently got a new PC, along with Halo 2 and Shadowrun at Circuit City (for $40 ;)). All of my older games run even better than before (WoW, Half-Life 2), but I can hardly play Shadowrun, even windowed and at its lowest settings.

My current video card is an Nvidia 6150SE, and It's recommended to play SR with at least a 6800. I was looking around at some cards, but don't know which one to buy. Which one do you guys recommend?

Microsoft published it, so probably not.

The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion

Gears of War

Forza Motorsport 2

fore_runner

Those would be your best bets. Definitely Oblivion and Gears, and the last one is up to you. Forza is a good choice, though. ;)

Nope, you have to connect. The best thing to do would be to always play online, so your achievements have a date stamp.

Achievements and records of bought items from the Marketpace are saved online. Your game saves are only saved on your hard drive, and the only way to back them up is with a Memory Unit.

All copies have will have the "Play Halo 3" option in the main menu when it's available.
