NFS Most Wanted

Ok, now this is a cool game.  I am a big fan of the NFS series of games, and played Underground (number 1) for PC like you wouldn't believe.  I got Underground 2 for the Gamecube and was highly disappointed in the graphics.  IMHO, this game is best suited for the PC where you have the freedom to upgrade your graphics card if you need to.  With the exception of the XBox 360, that has unbelievable graphics I must say, I hate being constrained to a non-upgradable console platform.

Whatever the case, I love Most Wanted.  I has so many elements from past games, like police chases from Hot Pursuit and the racing styles introduced in the original underground.  From what I remember from U2, it has some of the elements of the GPS navigation system and heads-down map, which is quite nice.  I think one of the big gripes about U2 was that you had to drive around so much to get to the next race.  MW has remedid this since you can jump directly to your safehouse when you are not being pursued and jump right into the next race if you want.

As in all NFS's, the acting is horrible, but the scenes setup the game nicely.  Josie Maran ain't bad to look at, either!  The car selection is very nice.  That's one of the other things I love about this game.  Audis, BMWs, and Mercedes - that's my style.  I mean, who the heck wants to drive a Toyota or a Honda?  Sheesh, I play games to escape real life, not to re-experience them.  All-in-all, MW is my favorite of the NFS series by far.  If you're thinking of buying this game, try the demo first.  It's a pretty good representation of the real thing.  Oh - and pony up some money for a Logitech racing wheel if you don't have one.  It's worth every penny!

HP Goblet of Fire for the Gamecube

First blog...hmmm...what to write.  Kids recently got HP Goblet of Fire for the Gamecube.  I gotta say, it's pretty good.  I would have rated it higher than Gamespot.  The gameplay is pretty good, graphics are better than expected, and it's great for my 9 and 6 year old because it walks you through how to use the basic spells.  I love the working together part and also the ability to drop out when I've had enough and let the computer play my character.
