Surely the reason GTAIV scored 10's across the board can be partly attributed to hype, mainly because reviewers probably felt safe giving it AAAA without having to suffer too much internet-whining. But does that mean it does not deserve the scores?

Gta IV IS the best GTA to date. It improved so vastly on every core aspect of the franchise, with shooting and driving mechanics, story, missions and detail of the enviroment being so much better as to make the previous installments almost laughable in comparison. GTAIV is also the first game on a scratch-built engine, so naturally some of the extra bells and whistles that San Andreas had are going to be missing, mostly because they can't reuse models, textures and animations to save time on the maingame's production. As such i'd espect to see good use of arbitrary features like customization and sub-missions to be put to good use in the next installment.

Pretty much the only thing i truly missed in GTAIV was a wider selection of weapons and more random crime sub-missions like the breaking and entering from SA and robberies from VC.

That eternal ***hat of a singer from Creed. I can't remember his name and i'm certainly not going waste time looking the man up. Whatever his name is he equalled the smugness of Bono himself in a tenth of the time in the spotlight.

the world has let Mugabe get away with this for well over 20 years already and i don't see it as unreasonable to believe he'll get to continue ruining his own country for quite some time. Considering the regional power seems to be content with turning a blind eye to his idiocy, we won't be seeing an end to this unless either south africa or britain regrow some balls and removes from power by force.

People who don't "get" patriotism disgust me. Go to some deserted island with all the other anarchists and have your chaos. :xDark__Link

Scuze? that sentence made exactly ZERO sence. The last time we had a peak in patriotism, world war 2 broke out.. That's som awesome stability for ya'..

i don't get nationalism. Having an interest in history and culture is one thing, but feeling genuine pride for something as random as your place of birth i don't understand. It's not an accomplishment, it doesn't make you special (maybe lucky) and chances are you did not do f'all to make it what it is.

"Im sad at America. This is one of the reasons I feel like I just want to leave, move to europe where all this cultural baggage isn't attached to humanity."

European nations have enslaved populations, destroyed cultures, colonized unwilling nations, and committed near genocide in their past. You'd want to move there to escape guilt? Good luck with that. You're going to find that nearly every region in the world has a dark past.

sonicare

Some are better than others at fixing the imbalances that are created during those dark pasts though.

I haven't seen any nation fix the imbalance or supposed injustices of the past.

There are major some major differences between the past slavery of the U.S and europe. I think you'll find that the "dark past" is'nt nearly as touchy an issue in europe as it is in the america's.

That's because americans aren't as good at looking the other way.

riiiiiight..
