Yeah, definitively it represents royalty. Why don't you conduct a poll within a college campus, or a high school for that matter, and see where purple falls into on the "that color is cool" scale. You'll fall flaat on your face.
Granted, the GC didn't fail because of the color alone, but it certainly contributed. Seriously. Nintendo launched a purple lunchbox that looked like a toy. I love my GC, but im not sheep enough to say it was flawless. Purple sucked. If it was SO great, why didn't the Wii launch in purple again? haha. Think about it.
Anyways. POINT BEING.
NEW GENERATION. NEW COLOR. CHANGES SHOULD BE MADE.
thank you =)

If someone refuses to buy a console solely because of its color, its their own business. I personally heard as many positive comments about the GC design as I did negative. A lot of people seemed to think it was cute. It also came in a bunch of different colors shortly after launch. If color was the determining factor, the original XBOX wouldn't have sold a single unit, with the bile-green accents it had.Speaking of the XBOX, did you notice that the 360's page is the same design as the XBOX, although the system don't much resemble each other? The PS3 pages look like the PS2 pages, despite a silver on black color scheme for the console instead of blue on black. I'm just saying that this is a pretty darn trivial issue, and I'd rather the GS devs work on one of the more pressing issues (can we PLEASE fix the words c|ass and sty|e?) first.
A Nintendo fanboy will always buy the console, but how do products sell apart from that? Word of mouth; people talking about how cool the product is; convincing others to buy it. Purple was an aspect that didn't help, but the games spoke for themselves. But for older gamers with entertainment systems don't want a purple toy sitting next to their sleek HD-DVD hardware, or black/silver surround sound system, etc. It's out of place.
I did notice Xbox360's page being green, but they still market the neon green color. Nintendo, since the 80's has marketed their logo as RED. I don't think the GC's color should be the definitive color, Nintendo will never touch upon purple again. Red, or some variation of it (similar to the blues used with PC and PS2/3 pages) should be used.
But oh well.
IMO, if you had to rank colors between that of green, blue, red, and purple...purple would be last, wouldn't you think?
But, if not to you, then I'm willing to bet the majority of GS users, or even America for that matter, would have purple ranked last. Think about it.
What kind of talk is that? The colour purple is popular. It happens to be my favourite colour, and I didn't own a GC. Just because a non-admirer has a problem with the console being purple doesn't mean that was a reason behind his/her non purchase. The paint scheme chosen by Nintendo certainly gave the GC a bad image compared to the slick PS2, but a bright red GC would have had an equally negative aura. What's more 'kiddy' than a primary colour? Equally, the black GC didn't help the system sell well. People buy a system for the games. You're logic is flawed beyond belief.
lol, okay buddy.
Where did I say to make the GC red? your mistake #1
Did I not say "the games spoke for themselves" ? Implying they are freaking awesome. The color is what made it hard to get a "cool" Word of Mouth around town. Your mistake #2
The color purple is popular? LOL. Yeah, the point I made was it's not AS popular, get your facts right. Your mistake #3.
Just because YOUR fav. color is purple, doesn't make the MAJORITY of the popular consensus of America think that. Like I said. I guarantee if you took a poll at a college or high school, Purple is not as popular amongst America as other colors. There was a negative connotation with having the GC as purple to LAUNCH. That set Nintendo's "kiddy" standard by default, it may have done better launching in black.
Thanks buddy, but you should read all the posts on this forum that i've posted before running your mouth. You actually didn't make much sense and made your own conclusions. You lose.
Thank you and good-bye =)
