Btw, silvya...make sure your mobo/video card ports match.darkSIDEechoes

The mobo/graphics I mentioned DO match (afaik). I shall heed your advice tho, in case I can't find those exact two items and have to buy some alternative instead... Thanks for the reply anyways, and about NWN2, I know it's not really 'latest', but it is to me, meaning it runs so bad on my comp that I've chosen to wait to play it until I get a new machine. Again, my thanks for the advice.

-peace out.

Fine, after lingering along quite a few years with my current machine (athlon xp 2000+, radeon x800pro, 1GB ram), I nuked my piggy-bank (aka VISA) and decided to assemble myself a new putor. Since I'm dead broke and have other priorities my finances are still limited, so this is what I came up with:

mobo - ASUSM2N-E SLI AM2 NF500SLI SATA2 RaidGLan 2xPCI-E

cpu - AMD Athlon64 X2 5200+ (socket AM2) + fan

ram - 2GB DDR2 PC6400 (800Mhz) - corsair

HDD - 250GB (16MB buffer) + 120GB (8MB buffer)

graphics - Sapphire Radeon HD 2900PRO, 512GDDR3, PCI-E

More than a rating, I got a few questions before I buy the components:

1 - windows vista, or not? will I be able to play most games, present and past, if i have vista installed on my machine?

2 - is the graphics card ok? is there anything better, or equivalent but cheaper? please don't start an ATI VS NVIDIA war now, I'm just asking for advice. I'd like to stay with ATI, but I'm open to alternative solutions.

3 - will latest games run fine on this machine? i'm thinking of cod4, crysis, nwn2

4 - is it worth to spend the (few) extra bucks for corsair ram, or any whatsitsname-brand will work just as fine?

-thanks in advance, peace out.

Seriously?

Quit while you still can.

I couldn't agree more! (Personal opinion Ahead Warning) Play LOTRO instead. Or, if you really wanna stick with WOW, try the other c|asses as well, so that you can make your mind up.

I'm thinking of getting one of these, and they both seem fun. I loved the Diablos, and I loved the original Neverwinter nights. I only want to buy one right now...any opinions please? They'ed be appreciated, especially if you have some good points to help me decide. Thanks in advance.

If you played NWN and plan to play NWN2 Diablo-sty|e (aka Hack'n'Slash), then get Titan Quest (it's EXTREMELY similar to Diablo, concept-wise), so you won't have to bother with d20 system and pesky background. I mean, NWN2 just gets boring if you only kill everything in sight without even reading the story. Instead, if you like story-driven games and like to meddle up with your characters stats and skills and like to read through all the dialogues and ReolPlay and all that, then go for NWN2.

AoE3 all the way. Or Age of Mythology. Or any 'Age of' game really, they're neatly superior to LOTR strategy games.

CoD 4 for MP. Crysis for SP. But CoD4 SP is good as well, albeit short. Again, go for CoD4 if you plan to play online, go for Crysis if online-FPS aren't your thing. I feel I'm being redundant now. Get CoD4. Period.

I'm thinking about buying a PC with the following specs as well. Will this PC be able to run Counter strike Source?

Thanks in advance.

HP Pavilion A6220N Desktop PC

FutureGruntxR

You should definitively be able to run CSS. Maybe not max detail, but mid-high I guesstimate.

Out of that choice, NWN hands down. Shame games like Baldur's Gate, Gothic, KotOR, LOTRO (and many others) weren't even taken into account. By the way, it's a bit tuff to choose one of of those five games, they're really far apart from each other, and just a couple are 'real' RPG's (actually, just one is). I'm not saying which as not to start the usual RPG flamewar. :P

-peace out.

Well, we all know NCSoft makes games I deem as 'fanservice' at best. I've played both Lineage 2 and Guild Wars a lot, and both just proved to be pure shallowness, coated with shiny, glossy, sexy, utter fanservice (hot elves, see-thru heavy plates, bouncing boobs, thongs, extremely cool looking weapons and so on...).

I basically agree with you, but I'd replace 'Bethesda and Obsidian' with 'Bioware', since the aforementioned companies haven't really done a good job of keeping RPGs (as in ROLEPLAYING Games), as the latter instead has (NWN, anyone?).
