when it comes to a good shooter there are a lot of things that make and break this particular genre. graphics, sound, music (i like to keep that seperate from sound since a game can have awesome fx but terrible music ex. burnout 3), gameplay, replay value, and story make up the foundation for a good shooter. however, its also the little touches of realism and detail that put games such as gears of war or halo 3 in the limelight. i'm not gonna pretend that ive played many shooters for the 360 but in respect to the qualities of a good shooter i would say that a game such as the darkness deserves a place of honor among the 360 classics. the only issues i had while playing the game was weak multiplayer (curse you halo 3!) and relatively low replay value. in truth i had much more fun playing through the single player in this game than i did halo 3. if you are new to the X360 scene then i recommend you buy halo 3 for its incredible multiplayer experience and the darkness to compensate for halo 3's letdown of a single player mode. btw if your a halo 3 junkie and reading this, which basically includes everyone who owns an xbox, i'm sorry but the "new and improved" style of halo 3 didnt beat out halo's original recipe and halo 2's extra crispy flavor. thats just my opinion though...
