@lionheartssj1: Jesse gets "The Word" in the first episode. He also gets "The Word" in like the first or second issue. It's not that it takes place before the comic, it's that it added a whole season between Jesse getting "The Word" and the fate of the town he's in.

Season 1 squandered its runtime. They deviated almost completely from the comic book and just kind of did nothing for 8 episodes. I also don't appreciate the softening of the whole "we can't find God" thing. In the comic it's not just a matter of not finding Him, He actually QUIT. They say those words. "He quit."

I'm happy to hear they're spending time in New Orleans for Season 2, hopefully to follow the comics a little better. However, the show's character writing isn't always the best either.
