@Damazig @skayj2 Well like you said the gameplay of DS just isn't to your taste, and that's fine. It also explains why the deficiency in other areas upsets you more than others.

And while I 100% see where you're coming from on your final point, it's actually one of the reasons why I don't believe in a universal rating system that sites like GS use.

All I can really say is that Dark Souls got a 9 because of the experience it intended to give the player was that great and all of its negatives didn't impact the core experience, as I mentioned earlier.

Basically it is a 9 for the people that it caters too. Just like CoD games are 9's because they're supposedly fantastic shooters (not a fan of the fps genre), but cannot hold a light to "real" (excuse the bias lol) games such as RPGs or Platformers. This is the best way I can explain it.

Lastly though, I think that you're being a bit harsh on Dark Souls, I think the graphics are quite good looking, the story isn't great but it's not poor either, plus I think they were trying to give as little information and lore as possible to help the "mysterious" feel the game tries to achieve.

@Damazig Well considering that this RPG is a choice based one, then things like voice acting, dialogue options and story become more important and integral to the design and intended experience.

If Dragon Age: Origins or the Witcher games had piss poor voice acting and stories then I'm sure that they'd be panned just as harshly.

Dark Souls however, isn't about all that, it is solely about the gameplay mechanics (Combat, building your character and learning how to optimise your build through trial and error), meaning that subpar quality in those areas don't really detract from the core experience. Also considering the fact that DS has incredible gameplay it also really more than compensates for the lack of dialogue.

And there goes the last, last-gen game worth owning!

7th Gen went out with quite bang.

It's kinda sad really, but onwards and upwards to better things I say! (Hopefully M$ and EA don't exploit and rape the industry too much this gen :/)

I don't get why people are complaining about this score?

I mean did you see the gameplay in the demo? It looked very shallow and basic. The strong point of this game is obviously South Parks charm and humour, which is great and all, but since this is a GAME and not just an interactive movie, the game will be judged on its GAMEPLAY lol.

I was greatly anticipating this game, and I'm still going to get it, this score, and the reason for the score is exactly what I expected.

@Gamzly450 You raise many fantastic point, and I pretty much agree with you 100%.

But if you want people to take you seriously man, you have to fix up your grammar.

Or at least let people know it's not your first language if it actually isn't
