What recovery menu?

The system does not switch on! Well it does... for less than a second with nothing appearing on screen.

So I cannot use the backup utility or any recovery system AFAIK

I think the most annoying thing is that all my months of saved data is now lost.

Does anybody know if there is a way to transfer the hd to another ps3 system? I know it doesn't work with a PC but would the saved data be accessible so I could at least back up the saved games?

Does anybody know whether whether it is possible to move a ps3 hd to another ps3 to backup the saved game data?

Will one ps3 recognise another ps3 hd with all the data intact?

Mine just died while playing resistance 2, I feel like throwing the system off something very high or running it over repeatedly with my car.

OMG just got YLOD!!

Guess what f****** game I was playing. Resistance 2. 60Gb UK launch model also.

First time I had put the R2 disk in, played one onlne match and started the campaign, got to the end of the first (training) mission and loading the cutscene it just crashed suddenly.

Every time I switch it on now I get the 3 beeps and green light followed by yellow.

The fan appears to be working, the disk wont eject though which sucks because it is the second tie I tried playing R2. Ordered it off play.com and it never came!

Just signed up for continuous play protection so hopefully I will be able to get a 'new one'. Think I will go for an 80Gb model.

Good thing I just bought a 360 elite so I'm not overly devastated about the lack of gaming I will be doing on my Christmas leave from work!

What about this one;

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Samsung-HT-AS1T-Home-Theatre-Kit/dp/B000VVU90Y/ref=pd_sbs_ce?ie=UTF8&qid=1203186938&sr=8-1

looks like it has an optical in for the PS3 and then connect the tv with the other inputs.

Also it's pretty cheap.

Thanks for the help man,

Just realised my tv does have an optical out. Whats the best way to set up with that? Connect the PS3 directly to the TV or just find an amplifier with an optical in and out.

Sorry I'm not good with sound setups.

Thanks for the reply man.

The TV has no optical out, just one HDMI.

If I found a set with a DVD/amp that had an optical out could the PS3 connect through that for sound and then still use the HDMI for video?

I just couldn't find anything for the price that has what I need, probably being a bit optimistic.

I need to buy a surround sound set for that will work with the PS3 as well as my LCD.

I know around £100 wont get me much, I'm just after something that will make COD4 sound better than it does on my current set.

The speakers I currently have are just PC ones with just a 3.5mm jack which does not provide surround sound.

This is the set I was looking at;

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Philips-HTS3154-Multi-region-capable-Cinema/dp/B000Q7ZCNW/ref=pd_bbs_3?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1203118602&sr=8-3

I think I would have to have the have the PS3 connected to the TV via the HDMI slot directly as it is now.... I know it may be a silly question but would the sound for both TV and PS3 still be surround or would the PS3 have to be connected through the DVD/Amp?

I'm not bothered about the DVD player but I guess it's gotta have an amplifier of some sort then

Any help would be great guys or advice on a different surround set to get...

Cheers

Anybody know when the PS Eye will be released in the UK?

I know it's out with EOJ but I don't really want to spend an extra £30 on a card game that I will probably never use.

play.com has it listed but the date keeps changing.

Cheers
