So, now that I finally had some time on my hands again, I thought: why not watch an excessive amount of series and movies :). Here's what I've been watching.
Brothers & Sisters

I still had to see the last two episodes of season one. They turned out to be absolutely great! It was a very emotional season ending. I've now seen the first four episodes of season two and they are definitely as good as the episodes of season one. Man I just love B&S.
*SPOILER* I'm really glad that Justin is back. I think he's a great character. It 'll be interesting to see how he deals with being back from Iraq and the pain in his leg. On the other hand it's sad that Julia blames Tommy for William's death. I also hope that Scotty won't get between Kevin and Jason, cause it seemed they had a nice thing going. I'm also eager to see more about the senator's campaign. I love him, although he's a Republican ;). Oh, and how sad is it that Sarah and Joe are getting a divorce. Ah well, we knew that was coming :). *SPOILER*
For you who don't know Brothers & Sisters, here's the summary:
Brothers & Sisters focuses on the lives of the multi-generational Walker family. After the death of the family's patriarch, William Walker (recurring guest star Tom Skerritt), each of the Walker family children along with the family matriarch, Nora Walker (Sally Field), must come together as they navigate the bumpy road that lies ahead. As deep secrets are revealed, Sarah (Rachel Griffiths) and Tommy (Balthazar Getty) manage their father's company and soon find that their father inappropriately borrowed from company funds. Things are made more complex for the family when the Walkers learn William had a mistress, Holly Harper (Patricia Wettig) and together they had a child, Rebecca (Emily VanCamp).
The lives of the Walker children are just as complex as their parents' lives. Sarah, the eldest, balances her career with being a wife to husband, Joe (John Pyper-Ferguson), and a mother to their two children. Tommy, the oldest son, is the president of his father's company. Kitty (Calista Flockhart) is a communications director for Senator McCallister (Rob Lowe) and is working to mend her strained relationship with her mother. Kevin (Matthew Rhys) is an openly gay lawyer who's political beliefs often clash with Kitty's. And then there's Justin (Dave Annable), the youngest of the Walker family who enlisted in the army days after 9/11 and after a tour in Afghanistan, he became addicted to drugs. In the midst of the controversy and shocking revelations following their father's death, the Walker siblings must pull together to face whatever lies ahead.
Grey's Anatomy

So, I'm also back on schedule with watching Grey's Anatomy. I'm relieved that the episodes are getting better again, cause really, season three was just bad. The whole wedding fiasco, the sometimes sickening love thing between Izzie and George, the Chief Residence appointment. All of it. It just sucked.
Now I think it's getting better again. I'm starting to like Lexie. On the other hand I think Bailey isn't her cool self anymore. I'm glad Izzie and George aren't working out. I'm also starting to like Meridith more, although the on/off relationship with Dereck still annoys me. Alex is really nice too, but I think he should get rid of Ava. And then there's Sloan, getting prettier every episode :). I first thought I would miss Adison, but that seems to be okay. I do miss Burke a little though. But anyway, I'm starting to enjoy Grey's again.
Will&Grace

I just bought season seven and eight of Will&Grace. I'm watching season seven now and it's just getting more hilarious every episode. Jack dancing for Jennifer Lopez and Janet Jackson, Grace stealing everything from Leo's apartment, Jack working for a gay television network, Grace going to AA meetings for the free food,.. these are just a few examples. Too bad the show ends after season eight. But hey, let's just enjoy the episodes I still have left to watch. This show is just a cl*ssic. Way better than Friends!
Desperate Housewives

I'm watching season three of Desperate Housewives now and man it is soooo good! Every episode is just amazing. I just loved the hostage episode. I'm glad things are working out between Lynette and Tom. Susan's new boyfriend Ian is very cute, but I hope Mike will soon remember everything and get back with her. Too bad Carlos and Gabrielle are broken up. And Bree and Orson.. what a great story that is. I can't wait to see how it all plays out. And what about that freaky new neighbor?? Man I'm loving this show more every day.
Prison Break

So I've seen the first five episodes of season three of Prison Break. It's not that I think season three is bad, it's just not as good as season one and two. I like the idea of Sona and trying to get out of there, but things just seem to be dragging on. Personally I wouldn't mind if this was this last season of Prison Break. I loved season one, loved season two even more (reason: William Fichtner), but now I just feel like it's been enough. I will always keep watching, as long as it's on, but I won't enjoy it as much as I used to.
Back to You

So I decided to give Back to You a chance. I mean, it stars Kelsey Grammer and Patricia Heaton and is written by the writers of Just Shoot Me and Frasier, so thatcan't be bad, right? Well, it can. As much as I adore Kelsey Grammer (Frasier Crane is one of my all time favorite television characters), this show just doesn't have it. Sure, there are funny moments. But they are just 'ha ha funny' and not the kind of funny that makes you fall of your chair, sort of speak. The situations are all very cliché and just not funny enough. And with the exception of Grammer and Heaton, the acting just sucks. So I'm sorry Kelsey, but I gave up on this show.
For those who are not familiar with the show, here's the tv.com summary:
Back to You is a traditional live-audience sitcom starring sitcom veterans Kelsey Grammer (Cheers, Frasier) and Patricia Heaton (Everybody Loves Raymond) as co-news anchors who reunite at a Pittsburgh television station after they worked together previously in the '90s. Chuck Darling (Kelsey Grammer) is a bit of a womanizer and moved on from Pittsburgh to a large market but his career took a large hit after a terrible on-screen blunder. In the managers' attempt to bring the Pittsburgh newscast back to #1, Chuck Darling makes his return with his former co-anchor Kelly Carr.
Ugly Betty

How can you not love this show? It just fills your heart with warmth and joy. Well, at least that's what it does to me. I just started watching the second season. And the episodes are great as ever.
*SPOILER* The fact that Santos died is really sad. I do like the way they made the first episode. Making you believe that Santos was still alive. It's good that Daniel is still alive. I just love it that Claire is back and that Justin is working at Mode. What I don't like is that Henry is back. I never liked him. *SPOILER*
Weeds

Again an unbelievably good show. I have to say I loved season two more than season three, but it still kicks ass. I'm halfway the season now.
I liked the story about Shane driving of in that van and Andy searching him. At first I didn't like the whole U-Turn situation, but it turned out to be funny. I like the new Majestic guy. Shane in summer school is funny too. Andy doing porn, also quite funny. What I don't like is the army story, where Rodriguez gets killed. I still don't get why they included that. Quite stupid. Now Nancy has met the former Mrs. Scottson, played by Grey's Anatomy's Dr. Hahn. I'm excited to see what happens there. And what thef*ck is Mary-Kate Olsen doing in Weeds? Get rid of her!
I also had some time to watch movies.
A Clockwork Orange

I thought it was time to watch A Clockwork Orange again. Such a cl*ssic. I love it. Malcom McDowell plays Alex de Large so well. I just love his voice and the way he speaks. A Clockwork Orange is without a doubt one of the greatest movies ever. If you haven't seen it yet, you should. Here's the imdb summary:
Stomping, whomping, stealing, singing, tap-dancing, violating, Derby-topped teddy-boy hooligan Alex (Malcolm McDowell) has his own way of having a good time. He has it at the tragic expense of others. Alex's journey from amoral punk to brainwashed proper citizen forms the dynamic arc of Stanley Kubrick's future-shook vision of Anthony Burgess's novel. Unforgettable images, startling musical counterpoints, the fascinating language used by Alex and his pals - Kubrick shapes them into a shattering whole. Hugely controversial when first released, A Clockwork Orange won the New York Film Critics Best Picture and Director honors and earned four Academy Award nominations, including Best Picture. The power of its art is such that it still entices, shocks, and holds us in its grasp.
Catch Me If You Can

Quite enjoyable movie and funny at times. It stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Tom Hanks and Christopher Walken and is based on a true story. It's the perfect movie for a rainy Sunday afternoon. Here's a summary:
Based on a true story, Frank W. Abagnale was employed as a doctor, a lawyer, and as a co-pilot for a major airline company, all before reaching his 21st birthday. A successful con artist and master of deception, Frank is also a brilliant forger, whose skill at check fraud has netted him millions of dollars in stolen funds--much to the chagrin of the authorities. FBI Agent Carl Hanratty has made it his prime mission to capture him and bring him to justice, however Frank is always one step ahead of Carl, baiting him to continue the chase.
Boys Don't Cry

I finally got around to watching Boy's Don't Cry. It has been on my shelf since forever. Hilary Swank does a great job playing Brandon Teena (although I don't think she deserved an Oscar, Annette Bening was way better that year in American Beauty). I also like Peter Sarsgaard in this movie. And Chloë Sevigny.. well, I just can't stand watching her. I really don't like her. Overall the movie is good, but not outstanding. It's worth watching it though. Here's the imdb summary of the movie, which is based on a true story:
Brandon Teena is the popular new guy in a tiny Nebraska town. He hangs out with the guys, drinking, cussing, and bumper surfing, and he charms the young women, who've never met a more sensitive and considerate young man. Life is good for Brandon, now that he's one of the guys and dating hometown beauty Lana. However, he's forgotten to mention one important detail. It's not that he's wanted in another town for GTA and other assorted crimes, but that Brandon Teena was actually born a woman named Teena Brandon. When his best friends make this discovery, Brandon's life is ripped apart by betrayal, humiliation, rape, and murder.
American Gangster

I also saw American Gangster in the theater last week. Well, only a part of it to be honest. It was the late night movie and I had just had an important and tough game, in which I had to play the whole time, seriously, no time on the bench, so I was just exhausted! So I fell asleep during the second part. But what I can tell from the first part is, that it's not such a good movie. Too many clichés. It's all been done before. The acting was okay though. But that just ain't enough. Here's the imdb summary:
Following the death of his employer and mentor, Bumpy Johnson, Frank Lucas establishes himself as the number one importer of heroin in the Harlem district of Manhattan. He does so by buying heroin directly from the source in South East Asia and he comes up with a unique way of importing the drugs into the United States. As a result, his product is superior to what is currently available on the street and his prices are lower. His alliance with the New York Mafia ensures his position. It is also the story of a dedicated and honest policeman, Richie Roberts, who heads up a joint narcotics task force with the Federal government. Based on a true story.
So, let me know what you guys think of these series and movies! It's always nice to argue about television and cinema!
PS - I'm sorry but for some reason some spoiler tags didn't work (I hate it when that happens).
