Who dat? Brees dat! (I'm back.. again :))

Damn, I haven't written anything on this website in ages! I seriously do not have enough time on my hands. But I was kinda bored at work, so i thought: why not? :) Not that I don't have any work to do, I'm just not recovered from Superbowl night I think :).

Man what a game. Maybe not as good as the last two Superbowls, but still pretty exciting. I watched the Superbowl with some friends in a bar in the Netherlands. With a two liter pint of beer in front of me and some junk food. The real Superbowl experience haha.

Anyway: great game! That onside kick at the start of the third quarter was so damn ballsy! Loved it! The Saints showed the Colts the game was far from over and that they weren't to be messed with. Bold move. And Drew Brees was on fire! (suck it Manning)

WHO DAT? BREES DAT!

God I love American Football. I was so born in the wrong country :).

I'm back! + holiday plans

Hey guys! I'm back on tv.com :). I haven't been here since my internship started. I was just too busy. I used to be home every night at 9 o'clock. After that I had to go to the physical therapist for my knee injury and after that I still had to eat. So you can understand that after that, I didn't really feel like writing or reading blogs. But my internship went very well, so that's cool :).

So anyway, I'm back now, but next week I leave on vacation. I'm going to California for almost four weeks. I'm staying with buddies of mine in Santa Cruz and Mountain View, so that's going to be a lot of fun. I'll keep you guys posted here.

So since my internship ended I've been having a lot of free time. Went to some parties and stuff and watched a lot of sports. I have this sports network NASN, pretty sweet. Been following the Stanley Cup. I'm rooting for the Penguins (I have since the beginning of the play offs), but I'm afraid the Red Wings are just too strong. I've been watching some MLB too, but it's not really my kind of sport. Not enough action. But still I'd like to see a game of the San Francisco Giants when I'm in California. I've seen them practice once, and that was pretty cool. I'm thinking about going to the MLB Roadshow this summer. They're coming to twelve cities in Germany. One of them is Cologne, which is not so far from where I live. And then of course there's the NBA. I'm always rooting for the Pistons there. I just love their team. Sadly they're not in the finals. But I think Boston deserves to be. It's pretty cool they're finally doing well again. So in the finals I'm rooting for The Celtics. I'm just glad the Spurs aren't going to win this year :p. I've also been watching the NCAA finals during my internship. Nice finals. The boy's final was really exciting, with a deserving winner. And the girl's final was pretty cool too. You got to love Candace Parker. She's better than Candice Wiggins at any time! Even when she's injured. No wonder she was first pick at the WNBA draft. Back in Europe there was the Champions League final. Finally Manchester United won again! I'm a biiiiig Man Utd and Liverpool fan. Maybe a bit weird, because they are big rivals :). But I've just loved them since I was a little girl. We even went to visit their stadiums. Pretty cool. So I love that Manchester won. I kind of hate Chelsea since they just bought themselves a good team. It made them lose their charm. Next week the European Championship starts! That's big. As always I'm rooting for The Netherlands. I'm a very big fan. Of course if Belgium participates, I want them to win. But, we haven't participated in a championship in sex years! Six years! It's just too sad. Ah whatever, I'm a Holland girl now :). Too bad I can't watch the games though, as I will be in the States at that time. Usually we watch the games in a bar in the Netherlands (in Maastricht) which is a lot of fun. Two years ago I saw the World Cup final between France and Italy in a French bar in Spain. So much fun! And of course there's Roland Garros tennis. Together with Wimbledon my favourite sports event of the year. I'm still very sad that Henin quit tennis. Actually, I don't even like to talk about it. So, let's talk about something else :).

So, I'm kind of counting the days until I leave on vacation. The rest of my cl*ss is still doing their internship, so that's pretty funny :p. I leave next week on Sunday, and on Friday I still have a wedding I have to go to. Lieselot, one of my best friends during High School, is getting married. Tonight we have the bachelorette party. We're all going to be dressed eighties style. So that's going to be so much fun :D. I'll post some photo's later ;).

Oh by the way, I have facebook now. So if you have facebook too, you can always add me to your friends list. Name: Jane Geurden.

That's it for now.

See you soon guys!!!

No Country for Old Men, Juno, Atonement, Michael Clayton & There Will Be Blo

With the Oscars coming up, I started this little mission called 'watch all the movies that are nominated for Best Picture' :). Here are my thoughts on the nominees.

1. No Country for Old Men

Loved it! Such a good movie. I'm especially impressed with Josh Brolin's performance. And how 'bout Javier Bardem. You can't portray a serial killer any better I guess :). The only actor on the cast I didn't like was Woody Harrelson. The acting was bad and his character was a bit redundant in my opinion. On the other hand, the story was absolutely great! I just enjoyed every second of. And the Coen brothers show their amazing talent yet again!

I rate it 9/10.

Movietome summary:

The story begins when Llewelyn Moss (BROLIN) finds a pickup truck surrounded by a sentry of dead men. A load of heroin and two million dollars in cash are still in the back. When Moss takes the money, he sets off a chain reaction of catastrophic violence that not even the law - in the person of aging, disillusioned Sheriff Bell (JONES) - can contain. As Moss tries to evade his pursuers - in particular a mysterious mastermind who flips coins for human lives (BARDEM) - the film simultaneously strips down the American crime drama and broadens its concerns to encompass themes as ancient as the Bible and as bloodily contemporary as this morning's headlines.

2. Juno

Fun movie to watch. The conversations are quick and funny and Ellen Page portrays the Juno character very well. On the other hand the movie is not nearly as alternative as it wants to be. But still, it's quite enjoyable to watch. And I just love J.K. Simmons in this movie. What I liked least about the movie was Jennifer Garner. I don't know if it was actually her or her character, but something really annoyed me. It was also nice to see Arrested Development stars Jason Bateman and Michael Cera on screen together again.

I rate it 7,5/10.

Movietome summary:

JUNO stars Ellen Page as the title character, a whip-smart teen confronting an unplanned pregnancy by her cl*ssmate Bleeker (Cera). With the help of her best friend Leah (Thirlby), Juno finds her unborn child a "perfect" set of parents: an affluent suburban couple, Mark and Vanessa (Bateman and Garner), longing to adopt. Luckily, Juno has the total support of her parents (Simmons and Janney) as she faces some tough decisions, flirts with adulthood and ultimately figures out where she belongs.

3. Atonement

Now this movie totally surprised me. Everyone was talking about a love story. I HATE love stories, plus, I just totally detest Keira Knightley. So I thought I would hate this movie. But what do you know, I liked it! Yes, I'm admitting I liked a Keira Knightley movie. There are no certainties left in the world, that's for sure :). So anyway, the first 40 minutes of the movie were amazing cinematographically speaking. And the story is quite good as well. The part where our friend James McAvoy is at war is the worst part of the movie. The story slows down a bit. Luckily the ending kinda makes up for that. I like it when we see Briony as an eighteen year old and then as an elderly woman. Really, this movie ain't a love story. Why are people saying that? This story is about, well, atonement obviously :). And about actions and consequences. And not fully understanding what those consequences are. So if you were, like I did, having doubts about this movie, maybe you should give it a chance after all ;).

I rate it 8/10.

Movietome summary:

On the hottest day of the summer of 1935, thirteen-year-old Briony Tallis sees her older sister Cecilia strip off her clothes and plunge into the fountain in the garden of their country house. Watching Cecilia is their housekeeper's son Robbie Turner, a childhood friend who, along with Briony's sister, has recently graduated from Cambridge. By the end of that day the lives of all three will have been changed forever. Robbie and Cecilia will have crossed a boundary they had never before dared to approach and will have become victims of the younger girl's scheming imagination, and Briony will have committed a dreadful crime, the guilt for which will colour her entire life.

4. Michael Clayton

I'm not really sure about this one. It seems such a chaotic movie. You have to constantly be focused, or you can't follow. I also feel they could have done more with the storyline. Good performance by George Clooney though. So I don't know.. maybe it's one of those movies you have to see twice before you really appreciate it.

I rate it 6,5/10

Movietome summary:

Michael Clayton, a NY attorney known among his colleagues as "the Janitor" because for 15 years he's worked behind the scenes to clean up his high-profile clients' messy personal problems. The story takes place over the four worst days of his career.

5. There Will Be Blood

Well I just totally admire Daniel Day-Lewis! I mean, what a performance! Paul Dano was also quite good. "You have arthritis don't you? Yes, the devil is in your hands and I will suck it out!" That scene was so funny. About the movie: I liked it, but I think it was too long. The story about oil also disappears completely. I don't think it's a movie I will watch again soon. But there was a lot in it that I liked and the story was pretty good.

I rate it 7/10.

Movietome summuray:

A sprawling epic about family, greed, corruption, and the pursuit of the American dream. Set in the booming West coast oil fields at the turn of the 20th century, "There Will Be Blood" follows the rise of rugged prospector Daniel Plainview (Day-Lewis) who becomes an independent oilman after hitting it rich with the strike of a lifetime. Written and directed by Paul Thomas Anderson, the film is inspired by Upton Sinclair's novel "Oil!"

So what's the final conclusion? My Oscar goes to:

No Country for Old Men! Hooray!

Let me know who your Oscar goes to!

NY Giants are going to the Super Bowl!

eli manning

Man, I am soooo happy! The Giants are going to the Super Bowl!

I am such a big fan of the Giants and of Eli Manning! Man, what a season he played!

I swear I almost died during the game against the Packers. I mean, Lawrence Tynes, were you trying to give me a heart attack? But then the amazing interception by Webster, some great passes by Eli and, yes, the field goal by Tynes and the party in my living room could start :).

I can't wait for the Super Bowl! Bring it on! :)

...

Don't you just love this guy? :)

Internship

I got accepted for an internship at this newspaper called De Morgen. Now, if you're not from Belgium you don't know this, but De Morgen is one of three Belgian quality newspapers. So it's a pretty big deal getting an internship there.

I start next month (February 18th) and the internship lasts three months. I'll be writing for the section 'Culture & Media'. At first I didn't want to do culture, because I don't know sh*t about art or theatre. But I arranged that I mostly will be writing about media (they have this supplement every friday called media.com), television and movies. How ideal is that! I will aso be going to press conferences from television networks.

Is this exciting or what? :)

The Best of 2007 - my picks

On the tv.com main page you can find this poll, called "the best of 2007". Here are my picks, please let me know what yours are!

Show of the year

Family Guy
Friday Night Lights
Heroes
House
Lost
The Sopranos

Of these shows I watch Friday Night Lights, House, Lost and The Sopranos. If I have to chose the best show of 2007, it's a tie between Friday Night Lights and House. Lost was better this year than last year, but it couldn't compete with FNL and House at all. If I really have to choose between the two, I go with House.

Best new fall show

Kid Nation
Californication
Bionic Woman
Aliens in America
Reaper
Pushing Daisies

Of these shows I only checked out Californication. But I'm going to check out Pushing Daisies real soon, because I've heard so many great things about it. So, I can't choose yet ;).

Best in genre - drama

Heroes
House
Grey's Anatomy
Lost
Damages
Dexter

Dexter is the only one of these I haven't checked out yet. House is the definite number one for me.

Best in genre - comedy

Scrubs
The Office
Weeds
My Name is Earl
It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia
30 Rock

Weeds without a doubt! I watch 30 Rock too sometimes, but Weeds is definitely the best.

Best in genre - action

24
Prison Break
Numb3rs
NCIS
CSI
CSI: NY

Wow, so many great shows. The only one I don't watch is 24 (except for the occasional episode). Prison Break isn't as good as it used to be. Numb3rs is good, but not my favorite. Choosing between NCIS, CSI and CSI: NY is very hard. I love them all for different reasons. But if I have to choose, I'm going for...... CSI: NY! Oh whatever, tomorrow I'll probably say NCIS or CSI :).

Best in genre - animation

Southpark
Avatar: The Last Airbender
Family Guy
The Simpsons
Metalocalypse
Frisky Dingo

I only watch The Simpsons. I'm not really a fan of the genre.

Best in genre - reality

America's Next Top Model
Dancing With the Stars
The Hills
Kid Nation
Meerkat Manor
Survivor

Don't watch any of these. The only reality show I like is Project Runway. The rest pretty much sucks.

Best in genre - science fiction

Supernatural
Battlestar Galactica (2003)
Stargate Atlantis
Eureka
Kyle XY
The 4400

I'm totally hooked on Kyle XY! I don't think it's a science fiction show per se, because I really hate sci-fi :).

Best of the worst

Hey Paula
Viva Laughlin
Nashville
Big Shots
Till Death
According to Jim

I really like According to Jim. How can it be under 'the worst'?? At least they are acting normal and not totally overdoing it like some other sitcoms.

Best guilty pleasure

The Girls Next Door
Gossip Girl
Jail
Caveman
American Idol
A Shot at Love with Tila Tequila

I don't watch any of these shows. And with good reason I suppose :).

Hottest actor

Dominic Purcell (Prison Break)
Milo Ventimiglia (Heroes)
Sendhil Ramamurthy (Heroes)
Taye Diggs (Private Practice)
Zach Levi (Chuck)
Tahmoh Penikett (Battlestar Galactica)

I totally don't agree with these choices, but if I have to choose: Taye Diggs. To give you an idea, my picks would have been: Carmine Giovanazo (CSI:NY), David Boreanaz (Bones), Eric Dane (Grey's Anatomy), Adrien Grenier (Entourage), Taylor Kitsch (Friday Night Lights), Julian McMahon (Nip/Tuck), Doug Savant (Desperate Housewives), Rob Lowe (Brothers & Sisters), Michael Urie (Ugly Betty) ... to start with :).

Hottest actress

Grace Park (Battlestar Galactica)
Hayden Panettiere (Heroes)
Khandi Alexander (CSI:Miami)
Laura Vandervoort (Smallville)
Mary-Louise Parker (Weeds)
Sarah Shani (Life)

I'm not sure. I don't know them all. I guess Mary-Louise Parker, because I've seen her play often and she does look pretty. That Sarah Shani looks pretty too.

Best episode

The Sopranos "Made in America"
Babylon Fields - unaired pilot
Pushing Daisies "Pie-lette"
Family Guy "Blue Harvest"
Damages "Because I Know Patty"
Lost "Through the Looking Glass"

No doubts here! Through the Looking Glass is one of the best episodes ever. I swear I had to cry. And that doesn't happen often.

Best in dvd

Planet Earth: The Complete Collection
The Twilight Zone: The Complete Series
Twin Peaks: Definitive Gold Box Edition
Battlestar Galactica: Season One
The Colbert Report: Best of the Colbert Report
Family Guy: Freakin' Party Pack

I don't have any of these dvd's, but I'm really eager to buy The Best of the Colbert Report!

Best news story

Dr. Burke discharged from Grey's
CBS caves; Jericho lives
Lost ends in 2010
CW drops two favorites in short span
Aqua Teen is the bomb...scare
WGA: We're Striking

The last one, because it definitely affected the television industry the most. I also think the Jericho story was big, because it demonstrated how important the fans are and how much influence they have. CW dropping Veronica Mars affected me too, since it was one of my favorite shows. I also regretted Burke (Isaiah Washington) leaving Grey's. And Lost ending in 2010 was.. well, good to know I guess :). Until 2010 is long enough for a show like Lost. I hope there will be a killer series finale. I'm really looking forward to season four! The trailer got me all excited!

So, let me know what your picks are!

Bruce Springsteen live (part 4)

Yesterday I saw Bruce Springsteen live for the fourth time. Needless to say I'm totally in love with Bruce. But who can blame me, right? I mean, have you seen his hair? He has perfect hair. And his music.. my god, how can you not love his music.

Oh and Elke, The Rolling Stones concert stays the best one of the year ;).

Here's a summary of all of his concerts I've attended.

1. Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band at Brussels, 2003

The concert took place at the King Boudewijn Stadium. That's a soccer stadium and let me tell you: it's not perfect for concerts. The sound was pretty bad. Plus the weather was terrible which meant that we were just freezing to death in the stands. Nevertheless Bruce was good as ever. I love him with the E Street Band. Since it was my first Springsteen concert I didn't know what to expect, but it was definitely better than I could have imagined.

Setlist:

The River (solo acoustic)
The Rising

My City of Ruins
Land of Hope and Dreams
Dancing in the Dark

2. Bruce Springsteen Devils & Dust Tour at Brussels, 2005

For me this was a concert I enjoyed less than the others. Mostly because it was all acoustic and therefore very slow. Of course I can't blame Bruce for that :). I knew what kind of concert it was going to be, but I just wanted to see Bruce. But still, it was good and I did enjoy it.

Setlist:

My Beautiful Reward
Reason to Believe
Devils & Dust

The Hitter
Matamoros Banks

Ramrod
My Best Was Never Good Enough
The Promised Land
Dream Baby Dream

3. Bruce Springsteen & The Seeger Sessions Band at Antwerp, 2006

The best Springsteen concert I've been to. Maybe that sounds weird, cause it wasn't typical Spingsteen at all. It was a tribute to folk legend Pete Seeger. They played all these songs that are probably very well know throughout the States and like played at campfires and such. Anyway, the atmosphere was amazing! I enjoyed myself so much that evening. Unforgettable!

Setlist:

Blinded by the Light
John Henry
Old Dan Tucker
Further on up the Road
Jesse James

When The Saints Go Marching in
This Little Light of Mine
American Land

4. Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band at Antwerp, 2007

Again an amazing concert! It started kind of slow, and he did play too many slow songs, but when those up-tempo songs came I was shaking my booty like there was no tomorrow ;). And Bruce still looks so good! It's amazing. Best moment of the show: when he sang Santa Clause is coming to town! That was so funny. And everybody was singing along. So overall another amazing performance. So glad I was there.

Setlist:

Radio Nowhere
No Surrender
Lonesome Day
Gypsy Biker
Magic
Reason to Believe
Because the Night
She's the One

Long Walk Home
Badlands

Girls in Their Summer Clothes
Santa Claus is Coming to Town
Born to Run
Tenth Avenue Freeze-Out
Dancing in the Dark

American Land

In June of next year Bruce is coming back to Brussels, so that will probably be my fifth Springsteen concert :).

DVD-recommendation: Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band Live in Barcelona

Amazing concert. If you like Bruce Springsteen, this DVD is definitely something for you. You can just keep on watching it without getting bored.

Extra: Drop the Needle and Pray: The Rising on Tour

And since we're kind of on the subject, I'd like you to meet the two mascots of our basketball team: Bruce and Nancy. Bruce's full name is Bruce Lionheart and he is obviously named after Bruce Springsteen. Nancy's name is Nancy Hotpants. But since we kind of figured that she isn't wearing any pants, we call her Nancy Nopants :).

Here they are:

Here Bruce is knighting Nancy. Or he's trying to kill her, I'm not sure.

And here Bruce is definitely trying to decapitate her.

But actually, they really love each other!

Greets from Bruce and Nancy!

Brothers & Sisters, Prison Break, Ugly Betty, Desperate Housewives and more

So, now that I finally had some time on my hands again, I thought: why not watch an excessive amount of series and movies :). Here's what I've been watching.

Brothers & Sisters

I still had to see the last two episodes of season one. They turned out to be absolutely great! It was a very emotional season ending. I've now seen the first four episodes of season two and they are definitely as good as the episodes of season one. Man I just love B&S.

*SPOILER* I'm really glad that Justin is back. I think he's a great character. It 'll be interesting to see how he deals with being back from Iraq and the pain in his leg. On the other hand it's sad that Julia blames Tommy for William's death. I also hope that Scotty won't get between Kevin and Jason, cause it seemed they had a nice thing going. I'm also eager to see more about the senator's campaign. I love him, although he's a Republican ;). Oh, and how sad is it that Sarah and Joe are getting a divorce. Ah well, we knew that was coming :). *SPOILER*

For you who don't know Brothers & Sisters, here's the summary:

Brothers & Sisters focuses on the lives of the multi-generational Walker family. After the death of the family's patriarch, William Walker (recurring guest star Tom Skerritt), each of the Walker family children along with the family matriarch, Nora Walker (Sally Field), must come together as they navigate the bumpy road that lies ahead. As deep secrets are revealed, Sarah (Rachel Griffiths) and Tommy (Balthazar Getty) manage their father's company and soon find that their father inappropriately borrowed from company funds. Things are made more complex for the family when the Walkers learn William had a mistress, Holly Harper (Patricia Wettig) and together they had a child, Rebecca (Emily VanCamp).

The lives of the Walker children are just as complex as their parents' lives. Sarah, the eldest, balances her career with being a wife to husband, Joe (John Pyper-Ferguson), and a mother to their two children. Tommy, the oldest son, is the president of his father's company. Kitty (Calista Flockhart) is a communications director for Senator McCallister (Rob Lowe) and is working to mend her strained relationship with her mother. Kevin (Matthew Rhys) is an openly gay lawyer who's political beliefs often clash with Kitty's. And then there's Justin (Dave Annable), the youngest of the Walker family who enlisted in the army days after 9/11 and after a tour in Afghanistan, he became addicted to drugs. In the midst of the controversy and shocking revelations following their father's death, the Walker siblings must pull together to face whatever lies ahead.

Grey's Anatomy

So, I'm also back on schedule with watching Grey's Anatomy. I'm relieved that the episodes are getting better again, cause really, season three was just bad. The whole wedding fiasco, the sometimes sickening love thing between Izzie and George, the Chief Residence appointment. All of it. It just sucked.

Now I think it's getting better again. I'm starting to like Lexie. On the other hand I think Bailey isn't her cool self anymore. I'm glad Izzie and George aren't working out. I'm also starting to like Meridith more, although the on/off relationship with Dereck still annoys me. Alex is really nice too, but I think he should get rid of Ava. And then there's Sloan, getting prettier every episode :). I first thought I would miss Adison, but that seems to be okay. I do miss Burke a little though. But anyway, I'm starting to enjoy Grey's again.

Will&Grace

I just bought season seven and eight of Will&Grace. I'm watching season seven now and it's just getting more hilarious every episode. Jack dancing for Jennifer Lopez and Janet Jackson, Grace stealing everything from Leo's apartment, Jack working for a gay television network, Grace going to AA meetings for the free food,.. these are just a few examples. Too bad the show ends after season eight. But hey, let's just enjoy the episodes I still have left to watch. This show is just a cl*ssic. Way better than Friends!

Desperate Housewives

I'm watching season three of Desperate Housewives now and man it is soooo good! Every episode is just amazing. I just loved the hostage episode. I'm glad things are working out between Lynette and Tom. Susan's new boyfriend Ian is very cute, but I hope Mike will soon remember everything and get back with her. Too bad Carlos and Gabrielle are broken up. And Bree and Orson.. what a great story that is. I can't wait to see how it all plays out. And what about that freaky new neighbor?? Man I'm loving this show more every day.

Prison Break

So I've seen the first five episodes of season three of Prison Break. It's not that I think season three is bad, it's just not as good as season one and two. I like the idea of Sona and trying to get out of there, but things just seem to be dragging on. Personally I wouldn't mind if this was this last season of Prison Break. I loved season one, loved season two even more (reason: William Fichtner), but now I just feel like it's been enough. I will always keep watching, as long as it's on, but I won't enjoy it as much as I used to.

Back to You

So I decided to give Back to You a chance. I mean, it stars Kelsey Grammer and Patricia Heaton and is written by the writers of Just Shoot Me and Frasier, so thatcan't be bad, right? Well, it can. As much as I adore Kelsey Grammer (Frasier Crane is one of my all time favorite television characters), this show just doesn't have it. Sure, there are funny moments. But they are just 'ha ha funny' and not the kind of funny that makes you fall of your chair, sort of speak. The situations are all very cliché and just not funny enough. And with the exception of Grammer and Heaton, the acting just sucks. So I'm sorry Kelsey, but I gave up on this show.

For those who are not familiar with the show, here's the tv.com summary:

Back to You is a traditional live-audience sitcom starring sitcom veterans Kelsey Grammer (Cheers, Frasier) and Patricia Heaton (Everybody Loves Raymond) as co-news anchors who reunite at a Pittsburgh television station after they worked together previously in the '90s. Chuck Darling (Kelsey Grammer) is a bit of a womanizer and moved on from Pittsburgh to a large market but his career took a large hit after a terrible on-screen blunder. In the managers' attempt to bring the Pittsburgh newscast back to #1, Chuck Darling makes his return with his former co-anchor Kelly Carr.

Ugly Betty

How can you not love this show? It just fills your heart with warmth and joy. Well, at least that's what it does to me. I just started watching the second season. And the episodes are great as ever.

*SPOILER* The fact that Santos died is really sad. I do like the way they made the first episode. Making you believe that Santos was still alive. It's good that Daniel is still alive. I just love it that Claire is back and that Justin is working at Mode. What I don't like is that Henry is back. I never liked him. *SPOILER*

Weeds

Again an unbelievably good show. I have to say I loved season two more than season three, but it still kicks ass. I'm halfway the season now.
I liked the story about Shane driving of in that van and Andy searching him. At first I didn't like the whole U-Turn situation, but it turned out to be funny. I like the new Majestic guy. Shane in summer school is funny too. Andy doing porn, also quite funny. What I don't like is the army story, where Rodriguez gets killed. I still don't get why they included that. Quite stupid. Now Nancy has met the former Mrs. Scottson, played by Grey's Anatomy's Dr. Hahn. I'm excited to see what happens there. And what thef*ck is Mary-Kate Olsen doing in Weeds? Get rid of her!
I also had some time to watch movies.

A Clockwork Orange

I thought it was time to watch A Clockwork Orange again. Such a cl*ssic. I love it. Malcom McDowell plays Alex de Large so well. I just love his voice and the way he speaks. A Clockwork Orange is without a doubt one of the greatest movies ever. If you haven't seen it yet, you should. Here's the imdb summary:

Stomping, whomping, stealing, singing, tap-dancing, violating, Derby-topped teddy-boy hooligan Alex (Malcolm McDowell) has his own way of having a good time. He has it at the tragic expense of others. Alex's journey from amoral punk to brainwashed proper citizen forms the dynamic arc of Stanley Kubrick's future-shook vision of Anthony Burgess's novel. Unforgettable images, startling musical counterpoints, the fascinating language used by Alex and his pals - Kubrick shapes them into a shattering whole. Hugely controversial when first released, A Clockwork Orange won the New York Film Critics Best Picture and Director honors and earned four Academy Award nominations, including Best Picture. The power of its art is such that it still entices, shocks, and holds us in its grasp.

Catch Me If You Can

Quite enjoyable movie and funny at times. It stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Tom Hanks and Christopher Walken and is based on a true story. It's the perfect movie for a rainy Sunday afternoon. Here's a summary:

Based on a true story, Frank W. Abagnale was employed as a doctor, a lawyer, and as a co-pilot for a major airline company, all before reaching his 21st birthday. A successful con artist and master of deception, Frank is also a brilliant forger, whose skill at check fraud has netted him millions of dollars in stolen funds--much to the chagrin of the authorities. FBI Agent Carl Hanratty has made it his prime mission to capture him and bring him to justice, however Frank is always one step ahead of Carl, baiting him to continue the chase.

Boys Don't Cry

I finally got around to watching Boy's Don't Cry. It has been on my shelf since forever. Hilary Swank does a great job playing Brandon Teena (although I don't think she deserved an Oscar, Annette Bening was way better that year in American Beauty). I also like Peter Sarsgaard in this movie. And Chloë Sevigny.. well, I just can't stand watching her. I really don't like her. Overall the movie is good, but not outstanding. It's worth watching it though. Here's the imdb summary of the movie, which is based on a true story:

Brandon Teena is the popular new guy in a tiny Nebraska town. He hangs out with the guys, drinking, cussing, and bumper surfing, and he charms the young women, who've never met a more sensitive and considerate young man. Life is good for Brandon, now that he's one of the guys and dating hometown beauty Lana. However, he's forgotten to mention one important detail. It's not that he's wanted in another town for GTA and other assorted crimes, but that Brandon Teena was actually born a woman named Teena Brandon. When his best friends make this discovery, Brandon's life is ripped apart by betrayal, humiliation, rape, and murder.

American Gangster

I also saw American Gangster in the theater last week. Well, only a part of it to be honest. It was the late night movie and I had just had an important and tough game, in which I had to play the whole time, seriously, no time on the bench, so I was just exhausted! So I fell asleep during the second part. But what I can tell from the first part is, that it's not such a good movie. Too many clichés. It's all been done before. The acting was okay though. But that just ain't enough. Here's the imdb summary:

Following the death of his employer and mentor, Bumpy Johnson, Frank Lucas establishes himself as the number one importer of heroin in the Harlem district of Manhattan. He does so by buying heroin directly from the source in South East Asia and he comes up with a unique way of importing the drugs into the United States. As a result, his product is superior to what is currently available on the street and his prices are lower. His alliance with the New York Mafia ensures his position. It is also the story of a dedicated and honest policeman, Richie Roberts, who heads up a joint narcotics task force with the Federal government. Based on a true story.

So, let me know what you guys think of these series and movies! It's always nice to argue about television and cinema!

PS - I'm sorry but for some reason some spoiler tags didn't work (I hate it when that happens).

Back on tv.com!

Yes, I'm finally back on tv.com! :D

It's been a very long time since I've been here. Things have just been so crazy.

The basketball season started again, so that means a lot of practicing and games. I've also been having a lot of work for school. We also went to Paris for one week. Man that was hell. We had to write 14 articles, all of them three pages long. And I don't even like Paris :).

Anyway, I'm back and I'm here to stay ;). (that sounded a bit dramatic though)

I would like to say that I'll try to catch up with all of your blogs, but really, that's just humanly impossible :).

But, I hope to catch up with you guys soon and see what's been going on with you!

See you soon!
