As the title says, I bought a 120Gig Xbox 360 today. Used of course. :P

And my first game:

Gears Of War Triple pack. It was $30 and has Gears Of War 1, 2, & the all fronts expansion.

Here's the list of games I want to get:

  • Mass Effect 1
  • Alan Wake

Please recommend any other 360 exclusives worth checking out. I'm not interested in Left 4 Dead 1 or 2.

PS Vita Hands-On Impressions

Today Sony's newest portable console was released... codenamed the NGP and now known as the Playstation Vita!

I stopped at Best Buy this afternoon and played the one on display. I just played through the Uncharted Golden Abyss demo but that was enough...

First off, the screen and system itself is big! I expected it to be smaller like the PSP 3000 or Go. The graphics for Golden Abyss looked amazing and were almost comparable to the PS3 versions of Uncharted. The dual analog sticks are small but feel good and make it easy to use. The system itself is light and felt very good in my hands. Since there are two analog sticks moving your thumbs inward to use the touch screen seems a bit unneccessary games like Uncharted Golden Abyss. The back touch pad wasn't used in this demo so I can't say much about that.

Verdict... I like it! I want buy this! I look foward to see how the PS Vita performs in terms of sales and what new games they have lined up for this thing. Hopefully ReadyAtDawn studios have a God Of War game in the works.

Peace -Dave

Games to put on your radar for 2012

The Darkness II

Febuary 7th 2012 (NA), Febuary 10th 2012 (Europe)

This upcoming 2K game is one I really want to draw attention to. It's been created by a new development studio called Digital Extremes and members of this team are known for their previous works on the Unreal Tournament series. The Darkness II is brutally violent horror FPS, if you liked game series' like Dead Space or F.E.A.R I recommend this game to you. To be honest I'm not even sure whether I'm going to be able to stomach the violence but we'll see.

Kingdoms Of Amalur Reckoning

February 7th 2012 (NA), February 10th 2012 (Europe)

I wasn't expecting much from this game but the demo really impressed me. Kingdoms Of Amalur Reckoning is a large open world WRPG similar to Skyrim or Dragon Age. One aspect about this demo that really impressed me was that combat system feels very fluid more along the lines of an action game. Ken Rolston who was the lead designer of Morrowind and Oblivion is the exclusive designer on this. I urge everyone reading this to give the demo a try.

Asura's Wrath

February 21st 2012 (NA), February 24th 2012 (Europe)

This latest Capcom release is a DBZ type manga action fighting game with massively epic boss battles. @Gohansephiroth I'm pretty sure you'll like this one.

Resident Evil Operation Racoon City

March 20th 2012 (NA), March 23, 2012 (Europe)

More Resident Evil. I'm not sure what to expect from this game really but I'm sure it will tied me over until Resident Evil 6 comes out.

Darksiders 2

June 2012

Darksiders was amazing action adventure badass Zelda clone. I'm expecting the sequel to be just as good. My only disappointment is that you no longer play as "War" who one of the seven horsemen of the apocalypse.. Instead you play as Death.

Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance

Release Date TBA

Revengeance, an awesome made up word how could this game not be awesome? Plus you can cut anything. Platinum games are developing this one... their previous games were Madworld, Bayonetta & Vaquish, which were all excellent in my books.

Spec-Ops: The Line

March 2012

A tactical war shooter that deserves your attention. I have a good feeling about this one because it doesn't look like your typical war shooter.

Prototype 2

April 24th 2012 (NA), April 27th 2012 (Europe)

I haven't played the first Prototype yet but this game looks to have promise.

Blockbusters Of 2012

Diablo 3

1st Quarter Of 2012

Still patiently waiting for this game. One of the most notable features will be the real-world trading market, where you can trade in-game items for real world money. Blizzard are currently looking into the possibility of porting Diablo 3 to the 360 and PS3.

Twisted Metal

Febuary 14th 2012 (Valentine's Day)

What a sadistic bastard that David Jaffe is to release this game on Valentine's day. This is a fan service game, and I have always been a fan of Twisted Metal. I hope all of you Gamespotters pick this one up.

The Last Of Us

Release Date TBA

A zombie apocalypse game and Naughty Dog is developer! I don't think this game will be released until 2013 but we'll see what happens.

Mass Effect 3

March 6, 2012 (NA), March 9th 2012 (Europe)

Not a fan of the series, but I thought I'd mention it cause it is one of the biggest gaming blockbusters of 2012.

Bioshock Infinite

TBA 2012

A city in the sky, Skyward Sword step aside. I'm pretty sure everyone is excited for this one because it looks amazing.

Resident Evil 6

TBA

Resident Evil 6. They're bringing back RE4's Leon Kennedy and RE5's Chris Redfield and other return characters. I'm looking forward to seeing more of this game as the year goes by. Here's a link to the debut trailer that broke a few days ago: http://www.gametrailers.com/video/gt-pop-block-resident-evil/726024

Gran Theft Auto V

TBA

Rockstar keeps pretty tight lipped on their new projects, I'm looking forward to seeing more of GTA V in the coming months.

HD Collections

Jak & Daxter Collection

February 7th 2012

You get Jak & Daxter, Jak II and Jak 3 on one disk.

Devil May Cry Collection

April 3rd 2012

You get Devil May Cry 1, 2 & 3 all on one disk.

I hope you guys enjoyed this blog. I know I haven't blogged in a while but I'm going to try to keep the blogs coming in the following months.

Peace -Dave

Killzone 3, arguably better then Killzone 2.

I know I'm late to the party but I just picked up Killzone 3 for 30 bucks the other day. I'm only part way in and am already liking the single player campaign much more the second game. The fact that you can play through the single player campaign with a friend is a much welcomed addition. I can't say too much about the multiplayer yet but I had fun with what I played of it.

Deus Ex Human Revolution seems like another cool game, but I'm not willing to pay full price for it. Maybe I'll pick it up this Christmas.

Here's some upcoming games I will be paying the full price for:

Resistance 3 - 09/6/2011

God Of War Orgins Collection - 09/13/2011

ICO / Shadow Of The Colossus Collection - 9/27/2011

Dark Souls - 10/4/2011

Battlefield 3 - 10/25/2011

Uncharted 3 Drake's Deception - 11/1/2011

Metal Gear Solid HD Collection - 11/8/2011

The Elder Scolls Skyrim - 11/11/2011

Ahh, another amazing fall line-up for the PS3. Nothing makes makes me happier.

Catching up on some Anime

I need to get this blog out of my system. :P

Mobile Suit Gundam 00

Thoughts:

Step aside Gundam Seed, this is Mecha series I've been waiting for. I'm currently 13 episodes into the second season and loving it. For some reason I couldn't get into Gundam Seed or Gundam Seed Destiny but Gundam 00 had me hooked from the start, the same way Wing did back in the day.

Plot:

The storyline is typical Gundam. A small group of young people name "Celestial Being" is sent to earth with Gundams to eradicate war and attain peace? Sound fimiliar? I would have lost interest but there's a twist, Celestial Being is being lead by a mysterious leader named Aeolia Schenberg who's true intentions for the Gundam pilots are unknown.

Btw, I loved the 2nd opening theme song for the first season.

LISTEN TO THIS: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=chzytQENcsU&feature=related

Code Geass

Thoughts:

Code Geass is basically Death Note meets Gundam with a little bit of Valkyria Chronicles sprinkled on top. I somehow got through the first season of this show and didn't realise there was another 25 episodes to watch! The first season ended on a big cliffhanger (an important character was shot in the head) so I'm not sure how the second season turn out.

Plot:

The series is set in an alternate universe where there are three remaining superpowers: The Holy Britannian Empire, The Chinese Empire and The Euro Unverise. Lelouch is the super intelligent chessmaster protangonist who lives a double life; goes to school during the day and leads an empire during his off time. He ends up gaining possession of telekintic powers which let him control peoples thoughts. Unfortunately these powers come with a cost.

Darker then Black

Thoughts:

I'm only three episodes in but this show seems very intersting so far. I started watching the Englished dubbed episodes on youtube now I'm going to back to Japanese subs. (which I prefer in most animes)

Plot:

Ten years ago from now a giant wall appeared in Toyko called Hell's Gate. Hell's Gate brought with it grreat destruction on the Tokyo's landscape and brought forth supernatural beings possessing special abilities. Some use these abilities for good while others use them for murder, these people are called the Contractors. Contractors are emotionless killers who will stop at nothing to complete their assigned missions. The main protoganist named Hei who is an elite Contractor and is a spy and assassins. Unlike other contractors he seems to have a conscience though. By day he is the gentle-heart student who works at a factory and at night he puts on the mask and becomes rutherless Contractor (contract killer) called The Black Reaper.

Ergo Proxy

Thoughts:

I've only watched the first episode but am hooked. This is dark sci-fi anime with an interesting plot.

Plot:

The starts off in a post apolocytic future in the domed city called Romdeau. In this city humans and androids coexist under a governing total management system. A virus called the Cogito virus is spreading among the androids and is causing them to become self-aware (and we all know what that means). Behind the scenes, the government has been conducting top-secret experiments on a mysterious humanoid life form called a Proxy. Proxy beings are immortal and are believed to hold the key to the survival of mankind.

Some other animes I've been considering:

Eden Of The East - Production I.G did the animaiton for this, the same studio who did Stand Alone Complex.

Black Lagoon - Seems cool enough.

Samurai Champloo - I missed this one.

All you anime fans out there got any recommends? I would love to hear them.

E3 Recap Gaming puns in New Marais

I'm just wanted to point out some of the things that wowed me during E3.

Microsoft Conference

  • The kinect addition to the gunsmith editor in Tom Clancy's Future Solider looked like Minority Report
  • The voice command addition to Mass Effect 3 looked cool.
  • Halo 4, nice.

Sony Conference Perks

  • The NGP is officially named the PS Vita and will be priced $249.99 and $299.99 for the 3G version.
  • There will be God Of War Origins collection for PS3 which in will include both PSP games remastered in HD.
  • Uncharted 3 demo on the sinking ship looked amazing!

  • Nintendo's new console is going to be called Wii U, Nintendo showed off the new Wii U controller and demos for the Wii U.

InFamous 2

I have to personally thank the guys at Suckerpunch for making Infamous 2.

The PSN is still down!

Hey guys. Long time no see.

I just came on here to say... I'm suffering from game withdrawl!

All I want to do is log on the PSN store and see whats new this week or play some Black-Ops online but there's nothing.

I keep trying to log into the PSN and it says "PlayStation Network is currently unergoing maintenance."

Incase you haven't heard: The Playstation Network was hacked! This effects anyone who has signed up for a PSN Account. Your personal information has been comprimised. This means your credit card information, name address and e-mail are now in the hands of an anonymous hacker(s). Luckily I've never linked a credit card to my PSN account so I'm not too concerned. :P

The worst part of it all is! The PSN went down last week! It took Sony six days to inform us of this information. Kind of slow if you ask me. I know this whole ordeal has already costed Sony millions off lost sales and I'm predicting it's going to cost them a lot more in the days to come with lawsuits and whatnot.

Well, that's my two cents about this. What do you guys think?
