The joys of patch updates!

Today, while mooching about on the internets I came across a 10-day free trial of WoW. Now I have never ever gone anywhere near this game for 1 very good reason. Why should I have to pay blizzard every month just so I can play this game? I've got GW, which is free after the original payment to buy the thing.

Anyway, so I decided I'd give it a look in to see what all the hype was about, seen as I was getting 10 days for free. So i pressed the button to download the thing and set up an account. The account setup was done in a matter of about 3mins. The download was pretty quick too .... or so i thought. The program I downloaded wasnt actually the installer, it was just an application that downloads the installer to a directory of my choosing ... an installer thats 3.16Gb big O_o

Now, me being me and having a 20mb internet connection, didnt think this would take that long. However I was pretty wrong. I set this off at about 3:15pm. It finished at about 11pm. Ok I thought, that should be it. I then proceeded to install the game, which again went pretty quickly. At this point I was starting to get a bit excited that I was finally going to play the game ... but no.

No sooner did I login, than did it tell me that i needed to download another patch - v2.1.0. This patch is 529mb. After checking on gamespot it appears this isnt the latest patch either, so it looks like I may be here a while. A couple of days maybe?

So much for the 10-day free trial, you spend more time downloading updates and having your time wasted than you probably do actually playing the game!

For the brotherhood...

So ive had C&C 3 for about ... 30ish hours now. First impressions? wow ... Ive played it pretty much non stop, with the exception of about an 8 hour nap. the nap was well deserved though i thought. i managed to get to act V in the nod campaign in pretty much one sitting. Played through it on the normal difficulty without any problems up until that point...

now im not sure if it was the 8 hour break that made me lose horribly or the fact that i was doing the last 3 missions in the campaign. but yes, i got badly hammered .... repeatedly. so much so infact that i had to ramp the difficulty down to easy just so i could get through the stoopid things. and because of that i walked through them no problem. im gunna go back and do them again, dont worry. gunna see if i can get full gold medals for every mission, or thats my plan anyway. i'll probably settle at full silver, purely because gold is pretty hard.

oh and the end cutscene for nod is kinda a letdown, if you play it and you get to it - you'll know what i mean.

so im currently playing through the GDI missions, hoping that if i get through them they may throw some scrin missions my way, or maybe im just being hopeful.... :(

at least its a welcome break from doom 3. never actually finished that game, decided i was gunna ... then i bought stalker thursday night and then c&c3 last night. guess im not gunna pick it back up again for a while :P

The eternity that is Zelda ....

So I finally finished twilight princess after some 40ish hours of gaming .... and im kinda glad its finished. Sure i didnt 100% complete the game. i didnt collect all the bugs, or all of poe's soul - but tbh im sure he'd rather be all gold and shiny. i dont think i got all the health either, think i finished on 13 out of 20 or something, i dunno. Being honest though, by the time id come to the last dungeon/level thingy - i just wanted it to end. I got the magic armour, and it wasnt that good in my opinion, yeah sure it takes rupee's off instead of your health, but it has a slow drain on them anyway. and with me not collecting all the bugs i only had a 600 rupee wallet - which deteriorates pretty quickly. So i spent most of my time running around in the original hero's outfit, and switching to the zora outfit when i wanted to go underwater without running out of air and dying a horrible choking suffocating painful death ....

Looking back on the game ... I thoroughly enjoyed it. the puzzles were good, fighting was varied enough to keep you on your toes. but to be honest, once you get your method down - it gets a bit easy and repetetive. and especially as your moving the controller around to swing it can get a bit tiring ... especially if your going through that silly level endurance arena thingy in the desert.

Would I play it again? .... probably not. Yeah its good, but im not quite sure i could even look at it again for a while. I'm just gunna stick it up on the shelf and look at it and say ".. yeah, i completed that."
