Well, this is my first blog post...ever. I've never done any blogging before and I don't know if I'll do regular postings or if anyone will even read any of these but what the heck. I figure I will mostly talk about games, programming, computer hardware, music, and whatever else comes to mind.
My first topic that I will talk about is the oh so popular Guitar Hero II. I admit it was only a few months ago that I hated all rythym/music games...or so I thought I did. I never really saw any appeal in the dancing, drumming, guitar playing, karoke singing games but that all changed when a friend kept telling me about this game called Taiko Drum Master that he had played at Fry's.
One afternoon when we were browsing around Fry's, he remembered Taiko Drum Master and went to see if they still had the demo unit setup. It was still there and after watching him play a song, he convinced me to try. Wow, I couldn't believe how much fun it was to bang on a little plastic taiko drum. After my turn was finished I quickly said "One more song!" After I was done I was looking around for the actual game box. They had a ton in stock and it was $25, which surprised me since I always thought it was like $70 or something. Took it home and my friend and I spent hours taking turns playing through all of the songs.
A few weeks later he told me about how he had tried Guitar Hero 2 at Best Buy. Even though I had heard about the first Guitar Hero, I had never tried it before and I was skeptical again as to how much fun could a game about playing a fake guitar really be. I figured I would rather play my real guitar rather than waste time with some cheesy game but once again, I found out that I was wrong. When we went to play the two player face off mode one day, I quickly chose War Pigs since I'm a Black Sabbath fan(who isn't :P). After we left the store, all I wanted to do was play another song in GH2. I thought about buying the PS2 version since it was already out but I decided to wait for the 360 version.
Well, when April finally came around I went down to the store at 10:00 and bought myself a copy of GH2. Ever since then, I can't stop playing. I cannot believe how addicting they made this game. Now, I don't consider myself an expert at the game by any means and compared to my friend I'm downright terrible, but by golly I'm making progress. I'm now on the Hard tour with my band(Doom Legion  )and Woman is the song I'm currently stuck on. Of course, I haven't had too much time this week but maybe this weekend will allow me to make some progress on tougher songs.
Unfortunately for one friend, he decided to buy just the guitar by itself to play at my house until his next payday when he figured he would buy the game by itself similar to what they did for the PS2. Well, no stores sell the game separately(at least not yet and probably not for quite some time) since they probably figure nobody would want just the game since its brand new. I've seen the games on ebay but he has now decided on buying the bundle since he would definitely use the other guitar for when his buddies come over.
The last thing I wanted to comment on was Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2. I got the game the week it came out but never got around to playing it too much until a friend picked it up this week. Its funny how someone else playing a game can renew your own interest in it again, not too mention that achievements can make people very competitive:). I don't know what they did exactly but the single player campaign just seems like its more fun than GRAW 1 was. Well, thats all for now.
