Correct, its to do with your phones sending off little messages to its service provider to update your signal bar (i think) I always have my phone by my pc so it tends to give the 'budda bump budda bump' noise quite often. As for 'it was loud enough to cause a sharp pain to my ears' all i can say to that is unlucky and hope it doesnt happen again :)

I bought one off ebuyer the other day. I can now run fallout 3 with High settings and it managed to make a DC wasteland look beautiful lol! It also works with crysis and assassins creed!!

 It even has its own fan LOL! 

Conclusion - Worth every penny! (£140)
