[QUOTE="sn4k3_64"] Yeah but with every new map you cant just rush in and expect to do well, you actually need to learn your way around it (well its what i've found so far), and the weapons are definitely not easy to use.. I actually think its quite a hardcore shooter, because it only takes a burst of bullets from a machine gun or 1 or 2 shots from a rifle to kill the enemy, so usually running out of cover can be very risky :/Remmib

Just played for the first time in a long time today. Got my ass handed to me many times, but I still got my fair share of kills.

I dislike the ability to strafe back and forth and then hit people long distance for an insta-kill with the KAR98. Too arcadey. Kept getting owned by a dude who was doing that, pretty lame.

Well its not always an insta kill, but more than likely you'll die yes. I dont find the rifles that easy to get kills with, if i rush with the machine guns from assault class (i.e. mp40), i tend to get more kills and better kill streaks. I do agree with you though, i mean on maps like avalanche you only have to be out of cover for a second before you get pwned by some sniper or dude with a rifle :P

Okay so we have Counter Strike Source, COunter Strike and Counter Strike condition zero. Which one should I buy? WHich is the one that has the large online competitive community everyone always goes on about...

CS 1.6 is more of a hardcore shooter than the rest, i.e. you need more skill to play it than source. CZ is similar to 1.6 except slightly better graphics and a campaign mode which apparently sucks (so i heard). I think that source is the best choice though, it has the best graphics, good gameplay and the ragdoll physics will keep you entertained.

Best gameplay for an online WW2 shooter. Probably just because of the Source engine though.

A few buddies and myself were in a DoD:S league, we did pretty well. Game is very underrated.

My only complaint is that I wish the game was more like the original. ie. More maps, guns, classes, bit less arcadey.

Yeah the game seriously lacks maps, weapons, the British, ... the original Day of Defeat offers more content and is free.

wis3boi

DoDS definitely takes some getting used to, as I haven't seen a recoil system like that in any other game. I love it.. out of all the recoil systems, that one seems the most realistic and best, since you have to manage the recoil with your mouse.

Really cool game, and a great price.

Remmib

Indeed, damn it is hard sometimes though. Especially when trying to shoot medium-long range with the STG44 or BAR.

Totally agree with what you guys are saying, and the BAR.. omg that is a tough gun to use, the recoil! I think the trick is, when playing a class like assault with the machine guns, if you fire and drag the mouse down a bit it makes the recoil a lot more manageable :P. Anyway pretty awesome game for £1.50!

Oh the rage. I occasionally play Counter-Strike Source, and there are many times when a guy/a team just dominate my entire team. Like, I saw him and BAM, AWP-ed, then I was like "WTF noob gun wtf wtf x10" and rage quitted.

It's just the reason why I prefer TF2.

You do realise most css servers ban awp anyway? :/

DOD:S is fairly good, it lacks something of what made the first DOD so good, but there is still a great deal of fun to be had in the game.

A bit sad they dumbed down weapons and classes, otherwise the game plays like youd expect, and sound pretty good aswell.

for the price, it is a good pick if you liked the first DOD.

Maddie_Larkin
Thank you for that info, i might buy it cos im a bit sick of playing css all the time :P

i have the OC gigabyte 460 which i set fans to 100% through MSIand i never go above 45 degrees while gaming, surprisingly the fans arnt very loud either great little card

swehunt
Do you have the fans on 100% constantly?

Thats another one... I too like to know the reason for this, it's a waste on the fan and most important its a waste on the ears. The auto fan work brilliant (Apart from not letting the fan rev. down less than 40% on idle.) on any reference gtx460 why would the AF heatsink gtx460 be worce that the reference? (Better cooling is the main feature isnt it?!) Leave the fan just like it is, theres no reason to go bananas and override a fully adeqvate funktion of the card's.

Yeah thats exactly what i was thinking, like why bother keep adjusting it manually? Surely if its stressed its going to increase the fan speed itself and keep itself at a safe temp? Im leaving it on auto lol, but im not sure i should even bother overclocking cos i play at a low-ish res anyway ^^
