Hey guys, i want to get the Gigabyte gtx 460 1gb OC version for my birthday and have a question about overclocking it. Firstly without messing with the voltages what is the max speed i can reach please? And secondly is there a way i can just leave the fan on auto? I dont want to mess around with fan speeds that is all. Also, as i only game at 1360x768 res, is there much point in me oc'ing it?

There is no guaranteed overclock speed that you can get out of a GTX 460 (or any card) on stock voltages. Everybody that I've seen has been able to get to at least 800mhz or higher. Mine does about 840mhz on stock voltages, 1910 (955) on the memory. Results will vary. I leave my fan speed at auto, and it never gets hot. Even under full xtreme burnmode at 1080p with 2xAA applied it only hits about 74 degrees C. I've never seen a game get it over 67 degrees C. Very cool-running card. Idle temps are between 28 and 32 degrees C.

Considering that you're only running at 1360x768, I don't think you'll see much benefit from overclocking. Truth is, I don't think you'll see any benefit from getting the 1GB version over the 768mb version at that resolution unless you like to crank the AA up.

Thanks for replying, firstly i know my resolution isnt that high but i think with the newer games being released it will benefit me having the 1gb version and oc'ing it, as i like to have my AA up to at least 4x+ and AF always maxed.. Also the 1gb version isnt that much more expensive :P. Sounds like a great card then, i thought i might have to be fiddling with the fan all the time, but leaving it on auto sounds just fine ^^. Cheers for the replies all, Sean

I need some help, got an annoying bug with my css, where the sound goes really quiet, but if i change to like headphones or what ever, it becomes really loud but then reverts back to being really quiet oO. Obviously i want it to stay loud so i can hear footsteps and gun shots... Should i just re-install or is there anything i can do the cfg which might help?

Really great mod but most bf2 mods are pretty much dead with the exception of project reality.

NanoMan88

Ahh i see, thanks :S..well erm im downloading it now, do you think i should just cancel and download PR then? It looks sweet, but if its dead theres little point in downloading it :/

Haven't played it in a while unfortunately, maybe extra content rejuvinated it

Counter Strike is the most reliable shooter

you can count on that game to just survive as other games die off

OilySuperWillie

Yeah i agree, its going to take a very long time for the game to die down, even now there are 20,000+ servers online

Also guys, if your struggling, try using the m4a1 silenced, i find that its a lot more easier to spray and get kills with it silenced..

Yes its definitely worth it! The game never seems to get boring for me, even though i only play a couple of maps, and counter strike is the only shooter that always draws me back in even if i havent played it for a very long time. It does require some skill, but i think compared to cs 1.6 its not as hardcore (i.e. its more noob friendly, easier to get kills and use the weapons). Although, you will probably find that a gun like the ak47 will take a lot of practice to master, but its worth it XD. So definitely buy it, i've put nearly 200 hours into it :O

SLUSHiNaToR
lol yeah.. I'm with you. Since when i first got steam almost 2 years ago, I think I've only played the dust maps, and office.. lol. Those maps are just awesome imo.. and yeah.. the ak47 is really really hard to use when you first start using it.. or at least it was for me.

Lool, same here i only play dust_2, cs_italy and cs_office, but atm all im playing is italy lol..they have sum of the best maps imo, just so fun to play haha. I would have to disagree with some people, i dont think you need THAT much skill to play it, trust me play 1.6 and then you'll see what i mean lol ^^ :)

Hey guys, having a bit of trouble with the volume on counter strike source, for some odd reason if i change the settings around on audio (i.e. i switch it to headphones, 5.1 etc) it all of a sudden becomes much louder, but then when i restart it becomes much quieter. Its a real pain in the a**, does anyone know a command or something to sort it out? Btw im using headphones, but they can easily go louder than what they are in css, i had this problem b4 with my earphones, so it must be the game.
