genrally i dont think British people care we just call it American football as for its popularity over here not so sure to most Brits American football is to stop starty most people who go to watch it do it out of curiosity rather than being a fan . ironically Football (soccer) probably has a greater chance of being accepted as a major sport in the U.S due to its popularity amoung Hispanic's who will soon make up the largest demographic in the U.S .

depends French would likely be the more useful language to learn due to it being more widely used if we are talking which would be easiest to learn id guess basic German would be much easier for a native English speaker than basic French or Hebrew due to both coming from the same language family.
