i think i found it! the ancient art of war. i just googled crazy ivan, came upon wikipedia, and there it listed several games featuring a character named crazy ivan. it was released in 1984.fireandcloud

Dude, you're my hero forever :D That's exactly the game I was looking for!!! Thanks a ton :) I just feel so stupid now because I googled Crazy Ivan, too, but since the article was about something completely different, I didn't find it necessary to read through the whole article and therefore missed the part of "Other uses"... Well, at least I know better next time... Anyway, thanks again, fireandcloud, you made my day!

Yeah, it was neither of the two games you guys mentioned. The graphics were really basic, completely 80's stuff. As far as I can remember, the game was actually monochrome... But thanks for trying and if anything else comes up, let me know!

Hi, I desperately need to recognize a PC game from the 80's. I only remember the following details of the game:

-it was a tactical war game that looked a bit like Ultima. The idea was to invade some kind of fortresses etc. by moving soldiers.

-in the beginning you chose a character from maybe 10 possibilites. I think one of them was a guy called Crazy Ivan and one was female

-the game started with DOS commands, which were something like: xelok2 war etc.

I know this is not a lot of information but I hope someone would remember something... Anyway, thanks in advance!
