Ok, so heres what my business teacher told me and this should work to get a discount/free repair.
Microsoft is aware of hardware problems in the 360, and they must know people are p***** about repiring a product under
2 years old.
So what you do is call up Microsoft and ask them how much the repair is. Freak out when they say the price and try to get
across one of the following points TO A SUPERVISOR, NOT THE PERSON WHO 1st PICKS UP THE PHONE. Be sure to sound
serious and VERY angry (don't over do it or they'll hang up, but that could actully help when u call back)
Or you can just take care of it and don't worry about it =]
1) I cannot afford that price, and will sell/trade/buy a nintendo or sony product that is more reliable.
2) Say how ridiculious it is that so many 360's are coming into repair, and that the repair fee is a slap in the face.
and the one that always works...
3) I'll take legal action, or file a complaint to a lobby group.
Usually a customer service reps #1 goal is to satisfy the customer, and in a situation like this where a re-call looks possible they'll give the customer the benfit of the doubt.
Has anyone tried this and been successful in getting discounted repairs??
