It was Market shares * something value. I dunno, I put it out of my head already, but it's within this thread.

Its called market capitalisation and is worked out by stock price times the number of shares outstanding of a public company.(from wikipedia)

I just grabbed some 2006 financial figures from Nintendo and Sony:

Sony:(in millions of dollars)

Sales Revenue: 63,893

Net Income : 1,057

Nintendo:

Sales Revenue: 4,349

Net Income: 840

Obviously as theses are from the end of the 2006 fiscal year they are not entirely reliable. However it can be seen that Nintendo make almost as much profit as Sony do, however there sales revenue is pathetic compared to Sony.

Furthermore, Sony have about ten times as much worth in assets then Nintendo (90'000 to 9'000) and significantly higher Shareholder equity (27'000 to 8'000)

One other thing, according to the Sony website the only loss making division for them is electronics, however that makes up more than half of their company(the other divisions are Games, Prictures, Financial Services & all other(includes music))
