Game companies are becoming more and more cynical. Releasing games based on lies and paid off previews and reviesws. People need to stop preordering and that would kill part of the problem.
With TLOU I think 'Dog hit the perfect combination of story and gameplay. It was nowhere near as linear as UC3 but it wasnt quite fully open. The environments felt like small sandboxes where there were a handful of routes to take and ways of taking out enemies.
WIth UC4 I think ND did the right thing in making more sandbox-ish environments that felt like you were offt he leash but still very much in the story. More of that would help. Oh and give us a few more weapons!
I didn't mind it in Crysis 3, looked cool in DOOM, don't like it in some other games. Thing is, it should always be optional and as long as that's the case, I have zero problems with it.
man i'm so glad for this thread! I played the demo and commented somewhere on tehse forums that the game was so easy, so basic, so...uninspiring. Some cool elements but nothing else. Then the review scores came out and I thought I missed something and played the game again with a friend who is a massive fan of this stuff and I just didn't understand the fuss.
I mean, from an objective point of view, it looks bland, slightly better than a ps2 game, has very bland, very simplistic combat and the characters are boring as hell. It's a 6/10 type of game.
