[QUOTE="codezer0"]It sure needs to be.MushroomWigNo, nothing "needs" to be pirated. If you think that then you should stay away from gaming because this kind of crap will ruin things for a lot of people who support the industry. You are completely right i really don't know what the hell is inside the brain of MushroomWig. Stealing is stealing, it doesn't matter if you can't touch what you steal. Rampant piracy only brings shovel ware in masses like a system from the competition. Anyway i wonder how many people may be willing to wait for 50gb downloads and wasting money if this became true ( I don't think so).

It easily can end costing like $229.99. In reality what people like you call new tech is not new tech and it doesn't matter is it is the newest thing a company can produce it still cost a lot of money to design and produce. They need to pay people to assemble then, they need equipments that ordinary people like you and me can't get and so on. People sometimes think that they are price gurus but they forget about the quality of the materials. Consoles drop in price and the quality of the materials too. I remember friends telling how less unreliable most PS2 Slims were compare to older models. At that time Sony changed the casing with a less quality one (cheaper plastic), the DVD drive with an old fashioned style CD player one and so on.[QUOTE="soulreaper-4"][QUOTE="darth-pyschosis"]
I find it very funny, that all forum go'ers think it could be $250 to $300, despite everyone knowing the 3DS is built from cheap tech that is rather old, and that it only has one 3D screen, and Nintendo's usually cost cutting tendenacies apparently don't exist anymore even though they find a way to make every console affordable, and even though most of the gaming press think it will be $200, people just think it will be expensive. But it won't be more than $199 IMO.
At $199 it will definetly be sold at a healthy profit for Nintendo. I'd plan on saving $199

1. Why would Nintendo give it an Odd price like $229?
2. I'm saying its cheap to make, its looking cheap to make, i'm guessing it will be sold at a 20% profit since most Nintendo consoles the last few years have been sold at that for profit at launch
3. The Wii cost $210 after manufacturing, licensing issues, and what not from what i understand, so they sold it for only $40 more, roughly 20-25% profit on each unit. Everything in the 3DS that we know of is looking towards around $130-$160 to manufacture, depending on varying costs like licensing fees, but $199 is very likely as it gives them potentially $60 or $40 of profit per unit
I don't think I ever called it "new tech". The fact that the tech is so old and cheap will only help the price be lower. Heck this is based off old GameCube tech then its 10 year old tech, It wouldn't surprise me if it barely cost Nintendo $100 to make a 3DS they know how to make an affordable console.
I've never really thought the consoles I've bought were overpriced. Companies sell stuff at a product, so long as it isn't grossly sold at a huge profit like 500% than i'm happy
Dude why don't you go to the system wars tread? Do you work at Nintendo? Do you Assemble the thing? Just because it was invented or the tech was available years ago doesn't means it cost $100 dollars or less to produce. Everything available is made using tech invented years before becoming available, even PC GPU's. The Gameboy Color was priced at $79.99 until the Gameboy Advance was launched for $99.99. The DS Lite was launched $30 dollars higher selling at $129.99. Since then it has only increased in price to $169.99 for the DSi and $189.99 for the XL. If you don't want then don't get it. Maybe you can call some sort of company to see if you can get the tech you want and create your own portable. NINTENDO IS NOT OBLIGATING ANYONE TO BUY THE 3DS.[QUOTE="mauiboynokaoi"]Except you still need to plug into a wall, and you still don't have a TV, unless you're trying to say he could fit a TV in their pants pocket. :roll:If they can make it of comparable size to a PS2 slim without a noticable lack in performance, yeah. My friend could fit a PS2 slim in his pocket and the gear necessary for play (AC adapter etc.) in his other pocket. It was portable gaming that was 10 times better than a GBA.

why? isn't it slim enough for ya?jcopp72I guess some people just love cheap, plastic **** - which is basically what the ps3 slim is compared to the launch models. LOL. I was about to say that. I have a Slim and the first thing i noticed was the cheap plastic compare to the older models.
[QUOTE="soulreaper-4"]I don't find funny getting a console at launched. What do you call a little? What i find funny is ignorant people with the money who want a console and keep waiting up to 4 years for a price drop and then they keep babbling thinking they are more intelligent. I prefer getting the console i want the first or second year and start having fun and playing games than waiting 3 or more years like a loser having the money. It's been a long time and the DS has only keep increasing in price. Do people wait for the next iphones and ipods before getting one? LIFE CAN TAKE MANY TURNS. I say $250. The PSP was $250 on launch day and that was in 2005. Just my thought.
Funny thing is that consumers will be dumb enough to purchase it no matter how much it turns out to be. If you just wait a little while you'll find better colors, better bundles (free game bundle), gift card offers, etc etc.

People should know by now how Nintendo operates. About 1 year down the line during Christmas you'll see new colors and possible gift card offers to get more people to buy it. I would take the plunge then (not 4 years later). By that time there will be more titles to choose from and the games will have dropped in prices. What i'm referring to are the consumers that ignore all this and then complain. I guarantee there will be threads on this about a year and half from now. Then why do you bother thinking about it? Don't buy it at launch. It took the Wii 4 years to arrive in black the same for the DS Lite, Gift cards are given by the stores not Nintendo and most of the times are limited. No one is obligating you to buy it dude.It easily can end costing like $229.99. That is Sony though....they overprice everything like crazy. Nintendo wins by being innovative and cheap :) Sony took the original gameboy advance design, and put it on steroids. Not innovative ^_^ Eh are you a one of those fanboys? Actually Nintendo are the ones the overprice everything and this come from me a Nintendo fan for over 10 years. The Wii was way overpriced compare to the competition when it became available for $250 dollars. The PSP wasn't overprice a the time of launch, It came with a UMD with demos, a UMD copy of a spiderman movie, a pair of earphones, a memory stick (with very little space) and a case. WHAT ABOUT THE PRICE OF THE WII REMOTES? Remote = $40 + $20 Nunchuk = $60 + $ $20 Motion plus = $80 dollars.I don't find funny getting a console at launched. What do you call a little?
