If you gonna go with a higher spec card go with either the Ati4890 or nvidia gtx 275. They are alot cheaper than the gtx 280 and performance wise are about only 10-15% slower. If you cant afford those 2 ( they are about 250) you can go with either Ati 4870 or the gtx 260 ( just make sure is core 216). They are in the $200 mark ati been a bit cheaper but a bit slower but they are both great for the money they ask. If you only can afford 150 go with gts250 ( is the same as 9800gtx+ just withless energy consumption and cooler thus overclocks better ). Even with the gts 250 you can max every game at 1680x1050 and almost all games at 1920x1200. The Ati 4850 is a bit slower but cost about $20-30 less[QUOTE="adamosmaki"][QUOTE="Masterpiece1986"]Yea well i've started collecting different upgrades here and there, got 4gb of ram to go in, new sound card, and hopefully a new graphics card soon. Just been looking on nVidia's website, and what's peoples opinion on the GTX 280, i know its quite abit more money, but is it worth it for the extra performance? Also i'm going to be upgrading my PSU because at the moment i think its 400 watts, and i was going to upgrade to 600 watts.Masterpiece1986
Ok brilliant, well i think i have decided on a GTX 280, because over here in the UK, the difference in price between the 280 and 275 is not as great:(
Is 600 Watts ok to run this card, or is 700/800 better?? I'm going to fit the upgrades myself, so the money i save on paying someone to do it, means i can have the better graphics card and components.
Good choice, NVIDIA all the way.
