I'm surprised at the number of people already bashing this thing right from the getko. I mean, they're doing what everyone wants, they're taking one of the best multiplayer games ever (BF2) and re-vamping it with more unlocks and stuff. They actually noticed that people hardly play any chinese maps, aside from Wake Island, and to me this game sounds pretty cool.
They already mentioned customizable characters and weapons. I'd like to see something like Rainbow 6 and Call of Duty 4, only more in-depth. Throw in some great Battlefield style team-basedmultiplayer (more squads and battalions? Awesome) and you've got a winner.
I think 9/10 people who don't like this game don't like it because it *might* not be supported on the XP. Can't say I blame them, but do they really expect games to support XP almost 2 years after Vista's release? A little silly if you ask me.
Dont flame me here, please.
As a PC gamer at heart, I've got to say, as far as consoles go, the 360 is my favorite. However, that doesn't mean its perfect. For those of you not fully aware, Xbox Live nickel and dimes you to DEATH. The fact that you have to pay 10 bucks for a map pack, or x amount of money for stuff you cant even preview, in my opinion, makes Xbox Live overrated.
I must say, I think consoles have the ability to outdo PC gaming, but until the developers wake up and realize that providing free services and free bonus packs for games wins the heart and mind of the consumers, it will always be behind the PC, at least for online play. The thing about XBL is that there is no real freedom or regulation... you just have a bunch of products spewed out on marketplace, usually overpriced, but at the same time these are the only products available. If XBL opened up to third party downloads, and give people a little more freedom about what to download, it would make a huge difference.
At the end of the day, I guess I just think XBL is a little too overhyped. You're paying 50 bucks for something which should be a free service (theres a program PC gamers use thats free and works 10 times better), and youre also having money squeezed out of your wallet at almost every corner. Its too.. controlling. If XBL was a government, it would be something like the totalitarian state in 1984. Too much control, not enough freedom. I'll give it a 6/10 as far as satisfaction goes.. but I know it has the potential to be a 9 or 10.
Still, the best any of the consoles have to offer, but for online play, PC will be on top for a while. I just know Im gonna get flamed for this. *braces for impact*
i the controls are so smooth, it feels like im playing on a compeKztAtyK
CoD2 was made for PC, then ported over to console. Either that or vice-versa. Bottomline, tho, with a game like CoD, on the console youre just not going to have a very good time unless they release mouse and keyboard attachments.
CoD1 on PC>Any other CoD, on any platform
CoD2 single player>CoD3 single player
CoD3 multiplayer>CoD2 multiplayer
Nuff said
For those who may not know, Xfire is a free program on the PC designed for gamers. It works much better than Xbox live in many ways.... not only does it alllow you to have an unlimited amount of friends, the iming is quicker and easier. You can join the same games your friends are playing in. Its everything XBL is, only better.
If Xbox live had some more features, than yeah, I'd want to pay 50 bucks for it. But the fact is, compared to PC gaming, Xbox live is overpriced and overrated. Im not saying I dont enjoy XBL, but it could have much more bang for its buck if you know what I mean.
Call of Duty 1 and its expansion United Offensive for the PC (both of them own CoD2, dont say CoD2 is the best until you've played the original)
On consoles, I'd have to say Rainbow 6 Vegas is my favorite shooter
If I were a top man working at Microsoft I'd have a few suggestions :
1. Make a keyboard and mouse accesory. The mouse could have a special 360 skin and xyab buttons along with the 2 clicks and scroller, and the keyboard would just be a white, 360-esque keyboard, but the left side (WASD) could detach and it would become like a little gamepad. I think if Microsoft did this it would entice a lot of PC users to buy 360's, and also make games more enjoyable for those of us who know that when you're playing FPS, mouse and keyboard is the way to go.
2. Regulate games so that if they have performance issues, or lag due to graphical issues, they cannot be released for the 360. I'm not really complaining, but when games like Oblivion, Call of Duty 3, and Madden lag on the 360, I believe there's something wrong. You just don't need extremely beautiful graphics, the fact is, they could downsize the textures by 1/4, people would hardly notice a difference, and games would run at smooth framerates the entire time. I'd rather have an okay looking game that runs at a constant high framerate than have a great looking game that lags every 10 minutes because the console can't handle the extremely high visuals.
3. I'd like to see Xbox live have different classes of players. For example, you could choose what type of gamer you are (first person shooter, RPG, action/adventure, racing, sports, misc.) and every type would have different ranks, kind of like achievement points. They could use military ranks for first person shooter players, for example. Your profil would keep track of all your games, and based on your multiplayer skill, that is, how many deaths you have and how many kills you have, that would determine your rank. The more games you play, and the longer you play, the higher your rank is. Higher ranks for all types of players could also have microsoft point bonuses, like maybe 50 or 100 points everytime you gain a rank (or maybe thats wishful thinking)
Thats all I have for now
