TBH this comes off as a bit mean spirited and entitled. The book will come out, or it won't. The series probably won't ever get a proper ending in writing, sadly. But at this point, just accept and move on, there's no point in insinuating he's lazy or deceiving people.
@atherworld: Me too! I contacted sony to see if I could get anything in place of it and they said it was my fault for buying the game I knew I'd get for free from the settlement. Not like I had a clue that PS+ was releasing it for free when I put in for that game, of course, but they don't care. Jerks, definitely screwed us.
Thank you for continuing to post on gender related topics! These are wonderful! I know that a lot of the gaming community doesn't want to hear this sort of stuff, but they really, really do. I can't tell you how many times I've gotten attacked by other games for even mentioning the word feminism in relation to gaming.
This does not mean that they actually *enjoyed* playing male shep more than female shep. Most players are male so they'll probably pick male shep for a role playing game. That is pretty obvious. But most people will agree that femshep has a much stronger voice actor than sheploo- it's just that a lot of people don't experience it because they default to male.
I'll bite that maybe developers have started growing up a bit, but given the appalling reaction to Anita Sarkeesian's interest in dissecting misogyny in gaming, some segments of the gaming community are far from grown up.
I'm 100% with her on this. The gaming community seriously needs to address it's undertones of misogyny and discomfort with women, and this might provide a vehicle through which discussions can be started. Good for her, I'll try to help keep this alive.
I thought it was really interesting to read this. I think there should be a space for such issues to be discussed and I'm disappointed that some Gamespot members are trying to claim that we can't talk about such things here. These issues, alongside the objectification of women and the stereotyping of black men in gaming, should be brought into the light and recognized. It's a good thing.
