So, I got Bioshock day it came out (I love you Circuit City!) for the PC. I ran home so excited to play the game! I install it fine, and start it up fine. I played the beginning, and made it past the bathysphere part, "All right! Past intro, just one loading screen away from Bioshocked action!" Well, my computer was like, "Hells no!" Crashed right at the end of the load. So, I gave up for the day, since the game wouldn't even start up anymore. The next day, however, I start it up with the '-dx9' extension, and I turned off High Detail Shaders, to fix the loading screen error. Everything ran fine, and I enjoyed a whole 12 hours of Rapture. With the game beaten, I thought to myself, "now what?" Yup, nothing to once you beat the game...just, do it again on a higher difficulty, or do something different with your next game. Well, that aside, here's a review:
Graphics:
Amazing.
Gameplay:
Addicting, but a little unsatisfying (if you play harder difficulties -- weapons just stop doing the damage you expect)
Storyline:
Best for an FPS I've ever seen.
Replay Value:
Sort of there...I mean, I love the game, and I love using those plasmids, so it is fun to replay the game and catch what I missed the first time through, but there's nothing REALLY different the second time around. Something that would have been AMAZING is if they had made a mode such as "Life in Rapture", or "Rapture Mode", where all you essentially do is survive, or something like that (You know, gain power, explore the world, etc.).
What I would want:
The ability to create your own plasmids. That would be amazing XD! The U-Invent was neat, but it felt like 'just another shop'. No freedom to explore combinations, or something like that. Maybe more active plasmids, I mean, Fire, Ice, Lightning, Wind, Security, Big Daddy, Enrage, and Telekinesis is nice, but looking at the selection list...it seems they could have had hundreds!
Rating: 10/10 (because I love the game more than pie)
