I dont think this is about his popularity , I mean honestly the guy wasnt great at doin reviews , he just tended to express his opinion not even in a particularly intresting manner. What this is about is being able to publish an editorial without caring about your sponsors.. Paying for AD on website just means they are essentially paying for views of yourbanner or clickthroughs it doesnt entitle you to a good game review .... thats the problem here I fully beleive gamespot has the right to fire whomever they want.. I dont however think they have the right to dictate what score a game should get, that should be left in the hands of the reviewer so again this isnt about supporting jeff , but about fighting this kinda **** up journalism .. I mean what if time magaizne did this and took money from its sponsor to write reviews of their products and amped them up ...
Umm other gamespot employees have stated he was fired for his "tone" maybe your just wishing it wasnt true I'm seeing tons of evidence pointing to this as a fact and little pointing the other way .. So untill you have more information ... I suggest you take the info at hand and look again and you will see that its a pretty solid conclusion
So now that we know gamespot takes money for reviews ... what other ethics violations do you think gamespot commits and will it effect the games you purchase ?
So I guess its official now that someone from gamespot has confirmed he was fired for having a bad tone in reviews aka not giving crappy games a high rating to keep advertisers happy... I'm astonished I expected gamespot to atleast make up some other reason they fired the guy
