I just did a reboot and it did fix the problem. I have a real sneakingsuspicion that something is up with the driver because right before my guild wars 2 game started malfunctioning there was a slight crash to the desktop and then it came back to the game where it started to tear and artifact horrendously. I don't know, this is really weird.

I think my card is dead. I was playing Guild wars 2 today and everything was fine for about 2 hours and when I came back after dinner I started playing for another 10 minutes and then my whole screen started tearing (artifacts). I was running at speeds of 950 / 1400 with temps at 62 C and put everything at stock but the same thing happens when I try to play games (guild wars 2 and half life 2); does this mean my card is dead :( ?
Hi guys, I recently purchased a new 7950 and just played around with the overclocking.
Anyway, I was an idiot and enabled the manual fan control and left it at 30% and had the card clocked at 950 and 1575 (nothing on the voltage) while I ran some benchmarks on metro 2033; and when I came back I checked the logs to find that the temps soared and stayed at 90 C - 97 C for approximately 25 minutes.
Ever since that moment, I disabled the fan control and left it to automatic and ran the benches again at the same speeds (with temps at 65 C).
My question is -- did I damage my card permanently or is it fine?
I was initially going to buy the 7870 but there was a sale for a HIS 7950 which cost me $10 more. Anyway, I found this thread rather insightful and interesting -- thanks for the suggestions guys.
Yea, I will be planning to OC either of them.TC are you planning on overclocking at all?

Hi guys, in a bit of a dilemma here at the moment with the 7850 and 7870; I've been keenly looking at the 7850 sapphire OC edition for 249 (aud) and that is pretty much the cheapest price here in australia, however for another $20 (aud) more I can purchase PowerColor's 7870 (non oc). So should I opt for a 7870 or just stick with my original plan of the 7850? And do you guys think therre will be another price drop with the release of the 660 (non ti) next week or are the prices pretty much set for the meantime?
I'm not gonna post my full specs as I think I have most bases covered with an i7 sandy bridge and 16gb of ram but I will be running your typical mainstream games like bf3 and guild wars 2 at 1080p.
So should I spend the extra $20? Suggestions would be great, thanks!
Hmmm, so what is the whole deal with the ohms? Would the ohms be determined by the way I connect the speakers to my receiver ? There is no visible switches whatsoever so I'm completey at a lost with the whole '4/8 ohm impedance'. Do you think it's still safe to connect the speakers to the receiver?
and what do you mean by 'trip' ? Would that mean my receiver would possibly get damaged before my speakers do?
it's a yamaha rxv667 and no, theres no switches - is this a bad thing?
Let me just start off by saying I'm a complete novice when it comes to home theater audio.
Well anyway, in my garage I have a pair of massive Amercian Acousticsd8550e - very old and quite possibly damaged speakers; however I do remember vividly my old man pumping these up 5-6 years ago and it ran exceptionally well and I'm sure they're still usable to this day. The specs for these old speakers are:
- 4/8 ohms impendance(no idea what that is).
- 37Hz - 22 KHz frequency response
- 205 RMS and 410 peak power
I also ordered my very first a/v receiver and it will be coming in a couple of days and since I have yet to invest in new speakers, I'm wondering if it is wise if I run these speakers on the yamaha in the mean time. The receiver runs at '90W x 7 RMS Output Power' which worries me, and leads me to my final question - are my receivers capable of running these speakers without damaging anything?
