The Intro: Called because i recieved RROD. Everything is going smoothly and the "Agent" has agreed to repair for free, when i guess he forgot to ask for my console's serial number. I provide and it he suddenly tells me i cant have my 360 repaired. I ask why not? He explains that i bought it in Febuary 2006. This cant be i tell him, i purchased it from gamestop in June of 2008. I explain to him i purchased it used.
The Struggle: He tries to stand his ground but as im unable to play the brand new, still sealed, copy of Dragon Age, i respond with more force than i probably should have. He has clearly not had the training to deal with a customer as upset as i was, so he transfer me to his manager. She answers the phone and tries to explain to me why i cant have my console repaired. I respond by telling her, is there an off chance, the "used"console had been registered previously and when i registered the 360, maybe the purchase date didn't change? A system error maybe? I'm pulling all this out of my ass. I just want the console i paid for to be repaired for free. I can sense that im losing the battle so i whip out the sympathy card. I start explaining, all of which is true, how i have over 7 months on my year purchased live subscription gold account. How i have over 900 microsoft points on my account and how i have purchased 2 games within the last month: Tekken 6 and Dragon Age..........
The Victory: She seemed very reluctant but said she would agree to repair the system for free if i included my reciept. Well i tell her i dont have it. All i have is a reciept of the accessories i purchased the day i purchased the console. I.E. a 3 month live card, 2 wireless controllers etc. She said she would accept that as proof i purchased the console. Said she would leave a note in the system. That makes me nervous though. Too often a "note in the system", never gets left, and the customer gets screwed. She gives me the instructions on how to send them the 360 when i discover i have to foot the bill for sending it to them. Small price to pay i guess. But why the big mix up i ultimately ask. How could i be in the system for purchasing my 360 in 2006 when i purchased it in 2008. I registered it properly and since i got it from gamestop, i assume it wasnt stolen. It doesnt make any sense. They never answered that question.
Happy ending or not?
